unclemicky
I'm not bothered about the make or price (to much) as long as they are 30g 6's or 32g 6's fiber wads , as I can use these to good effect on both pigeon or rabbit
Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
From nov onwards I use good old 32s 6s just cartridges extreme game as you cant beat more lead in the air and full choke 32 inch barrels in the 325 browning. I buy at roughly £167 a thousand but I think it worth it as I get about 8/9 out ten birds. In summer months when the birds are deeking better and closer I use 28s 6s though my remmington semi rougly £142 per 1000s All the best
casts_by_fly
I'll take whatever W Richards or York guns have in stock at the time I'm there that is between 28-36g and around £4 a box. This time it was Hull special pigeon 32g 6's for £4 at York. In the past it was clear pigeons. Thanks, Rick

rattzzz
Hi i'am shooting pigeon.i have been using size 6 32 grams but bought size 6 28 grams last time.i 'am hitting them and knocking plenty of feathers off, but they don't drop like the 32 grams cartridges.i also feel these are affecting my confidence.these cartridges are the gun shops own load and some rattle when shaken.i'am paying £48.00 per
casts_by_fly
Fluffing feathers but not dropping the birds tells me that you're behind them. Give them another foot of lead in front. Could be with the old cartridges you were fringing them with the pattern. Since there was an extra 12% more number of pellets there were enough on the fringe to bring them down. Now that you've slimmed down your pattern you're catching them with just a couple pellets in the rump. Don't know where you're located, but I'd take a 32g Hull Sp Pigeon at £40/flat over a 28 g shop special for £48 a flat any day unless there is another reason why you wanted to buy them. Thanks Rick

anser2
28 gr, 30gr and 32 gr in 6.5s to 5s will do the job very well. For decoying I like RIO trap in 6s , the recoil is low and the patterns very good. For long range roost shooting I will go up to 32 gr loads. The advantage of the light 28 gr loads is the recoil is also very low. For most of us shooting 1-200 shells in a day of the heavy loads is a bit much , you head hurts and your shooting goes off. But with the lighter loads this for me is no longer a problem. The last case of Rio trap cost me £36.00 for 250 back in August. Steel clear of using any shot size smaller than 7s. With small shot size your range is restricted and when you hit a close bird it has so many pellets in it you cant eat them. As cast by fly said if you are knocking clouds of feathers out of your pigeons you are hitting them in the back end . When you hit pigeons in the head they lose very few feathers. benelli montefeltro
top end 24g 7.5s. like the shells used in olympic trap competition, mirage are a good make. use them for everything, duck, pigeon, rabbits, woodcock. also someone said earlier avoid any shot smaller than a 7, nonsense, i had a good day on monday with some 8s i had left from a clay day, 19 pigeons with 23 shots, didnt have to pull a neck! and these were not decoying pigeons, flighting, and included some lovely shots even if i do say so myself! Got some Gamebore 24g fibres to try at the weekend. The last slabs of half decent 32g 12 bore pigeon carts I bought were Fiocchi Sporting Pigeon 6's - £153.84 a thou. The PL30's are good as well and they are £158 a thou. Edited November 26, 2009 by Whitebridges
