mattslaptop247
I have just bought a nice little garden gun from clayman. I was wondering if you can buy a moderator for them like you can the 410? I know it seems pointless as they're really quiet anyway, but was just wondering! Ricko
I must admit I am not sure, but a decent local gunsmith could advise you. At that particular gauge an alternative would be a 'decent' silenced air rifle. But I suppose £££ comes into the equation at some point. Never the less, interesting... (by the way how much are a box of 25 cart. for 9mm?)

Everyone always thinks cartridges are expensive, but you get £50 in a box. 50 costs about £7-£8, so not that much more than 50 12 Gauges really. They are made from niceshiney brass too
Ricko
Mmmm.. I looked at a W&S 9mm at alocal RFD In some ways I wish I had bought it. It was the percieved cost of cartridges that put me off. But £7-8 for 50 seems ok. Especially as I think I paid £12 for 50 .38 blanks

Bleeh
I don;t udnerstand why people have a problem paying £8 for 50 9mm and but love paying £12 for 50 .
oldspot
The best thing about theses garden guns is that you can shoot up towards asbestos cement roofs in farm buildings and the dust shot is much less likely to put a hole in the roof than an air rifle, perfect for pigeon and dove control on your permissions
bruno22rf
I would'nt shoot at pigeons with a 9mm GG as i dont consider them pokey enough to kill cleanly-these guns were designed to kill small birds or mammels hence the no.9 shot that most seem to use. Slug
At the risk of being ridiculed (as if on here lol).. They are called Garden guns because ?...The shot distance is small or they are quite ? How big a garden do you need and what's the legal implications of using them in a big garden..This is a serious question not a pee take. How big a garden do you need and what's the legal implications of using them in a big garden..This is a serious question not a pee take. The garden bit of the designation has no legal standing or significance. The law would not discriminate between you using a 9mm or a .410 in your garden, or a 10 bore for that matter! Provided no shot leaves your property, you do not endanger anyone and you are far enough (50ft/15m) from a highway it is probably not strictly illegal. However, that doesn't mean its a good idea. That really depends where you live. There may be noise/nuisance/harassment issues if your neighbours object. In the backyard of a suburban semi or terrace, it's not a good idea. If you live in the sticks and your nearest neighbours are some way off and are country people, then you are probably OK with something like a 9mm shotgun which is fairly quiet to start with, or a moderated .410 which are far less likely to cause alarm than a 3 inch mag 12 bore! Slug
Thanks for that comprehensive reply I assume an offence is only committed if the person causes alarm or distress anyway ?..
Blunderbuss
Thanks for that comprehensive reply I assume an offence is only committed if the person causes alarm or distress anyway ?.. Thats my understanding, but don't quote me - BASC would probably be the best people for a reliable answer
