shoot57
looking to buy a bipod i notice that the harris type are a lot more expensive than the others, my local shop stocks harris and deben, the two look nearly identical, deben being a tad more heavy, but the harris is a lot more money, my question is , do the less expensive ones, eg deben, do the same job or do you get what you pay for? wymberley
Hi, You get what you pay for. Harris every time for me. Think we've had a similar thread before and got the same answer if I recall correctly. Cheers

casts_by_fly
I've got a shooter's ridge, which is a harris copy. I've not had any problems with it in 5 years of using it. Only thing I would change is the length. I have a 9-13" and I'd prefer a 13-25 (if anyone wants to trade). Thanks Rick
bennyblanco
I also have had the shooters ridge harris copy for about five years and found it very good value, it was only £35 when I got mine but its a lot closer to harris money now so not such a good saving. The only thing I would recommend you do is get the swivel model which is very useful in the field.

I've had my 3 for over 20 years with no problem. As advised, the swivel ones are THE choice except for fullbore. My groups were all over the place when an ex-police senior firearms instructor/armourer mate told me that this was the case. Swapped over for a fixed and all was well. Colster
I had the same experience as groach. Everyone said get a Harris, I got a second hand one for £30 but it had the QD clamp missing, one phone call to Harris and a new clamp popped in post FOC. Can't beat service like that. I spoke to Deben first as they are the UK importers for Harris and was told they don't keep spares for Harris' as they never break... nuff said! Ali-C
I have a Deben copy on my Air Arms S200 and it works very well, but for fullbore I would go for a Harris, while the Deben is fine on PCP's, I'm not sure how it will do with recoiling rifles tbh. One I would avoid like the plauge is the Nikko Sterling copy, I had one before the Deben in it was worse that useless, one leg wouldn't lock, so it would extend if I pointed it towards the ground, and it would collapse if I put the rifle on it when it was extended, and the pins that lock the 'pod onto the stud fell out after 2 trips.
