McF is at it again

Many ardent PW members will remember the thread started by McF around this time last year. Its the one that involved mounting a pigeon magnet up a tree. Despite much debate and many suggestions; one valiant, but failed attempt McF agreed to shelve the idea.

I think that he must have slipped on the ice and activated a semi dormant brain cell. I've had a couple of PMs from McF trying to enlist my engineering talent to manufacture a hillbilly spin dryer style plucking machine that he's spotted on utube.

I've suggested a treadle operated crown producer as an alternative. Does anyone have a link for such a device?

McF, open your front door, the men in white coats are walking down your path about now.

Sorry babby, that idea is shelved. The man is mad. This happens every year as the Pheasant season draws to a close, he dreams up some cracked pot idea and then expects me to go into engineer mode. The sad thing is that in years gone by I have pandered to his whims, and have a pile of scrap to prove it.

Well I have one I put together but there was not much interest last year :good:

Shame, as it works a treat - a few seconds for a crown ready for the kitchen :good:

My first thought was that if your cracked idea does raise its head again, I'll pull a sickie!; but then I remembered that on the new shoot you will need to seek permission from the chairman, and possibly the land owner before you start climbing trees, lopping branches etc, and you know how long that can take. I reckon that the new seasons poults will be with us before you get a green light.

I did say that it was that time of year again. Below is a PM from McF and my reply. At least this one stands a chance of working; IF he can find a short enough tree; we don't have permission for chainsaw (thankfully)

Hello Mr Webber

Not done much today last day off work and that, but been reading some topics on PW and having a chuckle at some old ones by you.

However im afraid the mad man inside of me is rearing his head again, soon it will be pigeon shooting time at the shoot, now i know we faild with the whirley machine in a tree project at the delph, and yes waitng for permission off the chairman for me to climb a tree would take a while, but last year at the delph i opted for loftingpole and 2 decoys so now im thinking of going one better, and attaching your flapper to the poles.

so how am i fixed for borrowing it to experiment with. (my friend).

I cant find an emicon for a grown man in tears, so you'll just have to use your imagination.

Break it and you've bought it.

Thats a yes by the way.

The only reason that you are borrowing the kit is because I feel that it may well work.

I shall of course be around to profer words of wisdom, critisise to the nth degree, and shoot any pigeon that come close enough for a shot.
