Beardo
usually have good results lamping them in the snow - even with the noise, tend to stay still once we've spotted them anyway and call them in.
MerseaDavid
I have shot quite a few early morning when they come out and play in the snow and morning sun :yp: I tend to do most of my fox shooting on foot but then I dont go out lamping them, I leave that for my boss and his son. sako751sg
Shoot plenty of them in the snow, but usually with just the moon and no lamp.I bait a few places where i can sit from the house or in the jeep and watch the foxes come into them.Great way to get them with the snow as you can see by the tracks when its worth giving them a go. toka_shigazu
went out last night to a small wood that has had a lot of fox kills eaten within. sat in the car, mainly using moonlight but the occasional switch of my lamp....nothing showed. tried my home made caller [old mp3 player + amplifier] still nothing....there was no wind whatsoever and i think that may have been a limiting thing. came home with a very muddy car and that was it....the only good thing was BazookaJoes window bag got tested and it is really great! Benellimelody
Try going out in the snow mate. Foxes often seem to be bolder and more confident in the snow and therefore repond better to a squeak/call (You'd think the opposite when its so light ) Baiting areas would be a good bet but dunno bout sitting outside a vehicle in these temperatures
dodeer
Went out last night and saw 9 shot 4 of them. Only managed to pick 2 as the other was on a side of a river and fell in that when hit and the other was in the middle of a very boggy field. inthedark
Not seeing as many in the snow, and what shows up is off like a shot. Plenty of footings about but we're not picking them up with the lamp. I usualy go out between 8 - 11, what time do you guys who're getting them go? Rizzini
Just been bavk from putting some rabbit snares out and have seen atleast 5 decent runs where fox snares would be a delight to put down, so im going to go urley in the moring about 6ish walk to the farm with the shotgun. Check the snares and put a few fox snares out and probbaly wait for a bit and try and call a fox or something. But i will definatly be dressing up warm and taking a flask
proTOM1
Not having much look in the snow the foxs round me are very lamp shy as soon as lamp on there off not had 1 for over a week seen a few and snared a few .
trxnav
still see them in the snow they do tend to come to the caller easier as perhaps they are more hungry looking for food the noise under foot does not tend to bother them but generally try to get the wind right anyway so noise should be blown away from them. GatGun
Just a word of caution. If your setting snares make sure that the land isnt visited by anyone who shouldnt be there. Its easy to see the fox tracks and its also easy for antis, or thieving scumbags, or kids etc to follow YOUR tracks and then interfere with or steal any set snares. Ive been out last couple of nights and havent seen any. I have however seen a few crossing fields early morning by sides of motorway on way to work. inthedark
Half 8 to midnight, saw three. Two were just one flash of eyeball then bolt for cover, one stood bold as brass and paid the bill for it. Happy days.
