Colster
I've bought a couple of spare batteries for a mate's Clulite CB2 and hoping they'll be here before lamping session next Tuesday. If they do arrive in time I'd assume they won't be fully charged so can I charge them with an ordinary car battery charger? They're 12v 7ah ones like this
wymberley
Hi, No. A car battery will charge in amps, these batteries take milli-amps. For a battery of your size and to extend its life, I would use at max. a 500mA charger. The usual sizes are 300, the 500 and 800. As a guide, from flat, the charging times for yours in the order of the above chargers is roughly, 24, 14 and 9 hours. Cheers
maddog546
The slower you charge your batteries the longer they take to run down and last longer life wise as you dont buckle the plates inside them, buy a deben trickle charger. Dekers
They will usually come quite well charged, just depends on how long they have been sitting on a shelf somewhere!! Probably an idea to give it a zap before you use it though!! As others have said, get the right charger, and for maximum battery life and performance charge slowly and keep it charged!! Rem223
I bought a Deltran battery tender motorcycle charger from Ebay to use on my bike. Leaving it constantly hooked up saves on buying a new battery every year. I was so impressed I bought another one for one of our cars which sat on the drive and didn't get used much. A car battery charger would cook a puny 7Ah in no time. One of these intelligent chargers would be ideal for your battery.
Colster
Thanks for the replies guys, the batteries are for him and he has a Clulite charger. If they come with at least some charge then we should be able to use them Tuesday night anyway. Bring on the bunnies!
