Lez325
Personal preference & Budget I guess, I had a Marlin didnt get on with it- very clunky on the action I have a 20" barrel CZ 452 now and it does the job- although I did hanker after more expensive HMR's but at the end of the day its a tool to do a job so I settled on a CZ 452 with heavy 20" barrel Les Edited January 16, 2010 by Lez325
Dekers
You don't say the intended use, but a glance at your suggestions and I guess you are not talking about serious target work. This gets personal and financial, everyone will have their own views, so PERSONALLY, I would stay clear of both you mention. Check out the CZ 452 and Sako Quads in HMR! ATB!! steve_b_wales
CZ 452 Varmint. Excellent value for money, as are all of the CZ range.

Frenchieboy
Can't comment on either of the two that you have mentioned but I have a CZ 452 Varmint with a 20 inch barrel and I can't fault it. The trigger on some of the CZs can leave a little to be desired but with a little work they can be top quality. Mine is superbly accurate and a delight to use, it's capabilities never cease to amaze me. The CZ is great value for money!
kyska
I had the Savage you talk of, and I changed it after a few weeks. Lovely looking, but a bit heavy for the amount of walking I do and I found the stock very difficult to shoulder quickly, but that may well be a personal thing. I found the action clunky and often didn't pick up rounds properly. On a good note, very accurate and as I've said a lovely thing to look at. I changed it for a CZ and haven't looked back, although I do have a Savage .22lr bolt action and its superb, so I may have just got a friday afternoon gun.
