Ratman2
If you can get hold of a 5ltr garden pressure sprayer with a flexy lance, buy 5ltr of waxoil, stand the can in boiling water for 15-20 minutes (loosen the cap first) You'll do a damn sight better job and cheaper too!! Ricko
do it in the dry weather clean the underside thoroughly warm the waxoyl to thin it i have used a 'schutz' gun and an air compressor to do it in the past
Chally2
Ive used an air compresssor and it goes on a treat. Warm the tin in hot water first and remember to clean equipment after. I use the black on my landy chassis and it makes it look new

Sprocket
guss Just tell her it makes things like :-Washing up,Cooking, and House work much easier for her. It works on the principle that if you're in the garage using the compressor -You can't be in her way whilst she's doing the other jobs! paulf
Ive done a few vehicles now, summer or winter its a filthy job, as said warm the tin up in boiling water. An air compressor is a must, the hand sprayers wont maintain a constant pressure so you will struggle to get the wax into the cavities and box sections properly. You could probably hire a compressor, if your into vehicle maintenance though then a compressor is invaluable and worth the investment. mancub
As the title really has any one used the hand held spray cans as i need to do my truck now. Got a feeling its going to be messy but needs must. Any top tips appart from get some one else to do it Mate, I tried to proof my L200 with cans at Xmas and all i could manage was to tar and feather myself. After half a can the nozzle started to block despite best efforts (Rinsing and wiping) to keep clean I resorted to aborting the job and going indoors for a Hobgoblin and 6 mince pies (I'm always wixing my mords up). Suggest you wrap on the aerosols and advance down mayfair to the large cans with extended gun nozzles. Good luck with the job and even more luck with getting yourself clean if you opt for the spray cans.
Paul223
The problem with applying waxoyl at this time of year is trapping salt and damp and causing more harm than good, do it in the summer when the air will dry the underside completely, wash the cars underside and inspect to make sure all the crevice's are clean, allow to dry then apply. A proper waxoyl gun holds about 1/4 gallon, it is a pressured unit (not suction feed like a schultz gun), no need to thin or warm up, and has attachment pipes to blow waxoyl down in side hollow sections, IE you feed to tube down inside the landy chassis about 4 foot then pull trigger whilst slowly with drawing the tube, coating the inside fully. guss109
Think i might just knock this bright idea on the head and have to pay a garage if i can find one to do it
V8landy
Mate has just had his car done at a garage for £50. Not worth the hassle or mess to be trying to do it on you back if you do not have a car lift or pit. You need to find a "propper garage" not the clean type one or main dealers. crazyfarmerboy
Place near me does it for £100 but they specialise in it, they steam clean, and have a flexi end wax oil squirter and get inside the ladder chassis of the defender's, not sure how much they charge for other vehicle's
clueless1
Couple of people have mentioned doing the inside of the chassis. This is critical as (LR) chassis rot from the inside out. You couldn't do this with the cans so you have to look at one of the other methods suggested.
