apbuild
Anyone reccommend a good brand of waterproofer/wax for my leather shooting boots. I want to get them sorted for the winter. As they are still fairly new, they need treating and softening up a bit. Clear is a must as I dont want to colour them. Cheers, Rob.
pete evans
ive always used nicwax on boots. the solid stuff, not the spray. heat it up a little then work into the seams with an old toothbrush. pete
arjimlad
Yes, Nikwax is the stuff. Put it on with your fingers (the warmth helps the wax get into the leather) leave the boots in a warm place overnight and gently remove the excess wax with kitchen roll in the morning.. restores old shoes and belts and everything ! Country_est
Also could try Renapur. Have only seen it to buy at the shows, but seems to work well on my boots, coats, hats and any other leather. Cheers trev

game_boy
I would agree with the other guys about Nikwax. Its great stuff put it on my hiking boots and my Timberland boots as well. Both pairs of boots have never any water in.

lord_seagrave
Ever since my scouting days I've used Nikwax in its hard form. Your fingers and a warm room will allow for extra penetration, and it's always a joy to see the water beading up on your boots when you next take them out. You might find if you overdo it that the wax will start to cake around the creases when you walk. If you walk them out in the dry first to show up these spots and then take a hair dryer to them, that ought to finish it off nicely. Fairy liquid will shift the wax off your hands.
