muppet
I have seen alot of Pigeons feeding on Barley Stubble, I rang the Farmer yesterday and spoke to his wife about shooting it on friday, she said no problems B) . Today I have seen the farmer ploughing the field :< . I have booked the day off work for friday to shoot it, Is it worth using a magnet on bare ploughed land or should I not bother ? The field has a couple of flight lines across it.
Cranfield
I would firstly look around the Farm for a better option. It is difficult to decoy birds on to a ploughed field, because there is no food for them. However, if you are near flightlines, they may come and have a look, which will give you some shooting. I would be tempted to try to cancel my days holiday. B)

Catamong
Muppet, Make sure you take your wellies, as it's sure to be muddy, leave the cartridges in the car to save weight as you won't need them, the only pigeons you will pick up are the ones that die laughing when they see your rotary working away on the ploughed field..!! Fisherman Mike
Never shot more than a couple of pigeons on a fresh ploughed field Have the day off but go fishing instead. B) FM.
iamspartacus
it can depend on whether the field is ploughed or just cultivated or subsoiled. Lots of farmers aren't bothering to plough fields and then cultivate (depending onwhat he's drilling there this year) instead they're just cultivating straight into the stubble field. If this is the case then i've found the pigeons will come on because there's still feed near the surface. In fact I had my best day this summer on cultivated bean stubble- 68 pig's and 10 crows! ochre
I knew it wouldn't be long before one of our crowd saw a pig fly.
