dj.chapman
me and 2 of my mates went out tuesday on a new permission he got, started the day on a hedge row and did not see a rabbit until i had to dig down to my jill, 3ft of quite tough digging. when i got down to her she had the rabbit just behind the ear and the bottom of the bury was full of water. we moved after an hour of seeing nothing to an open meadow and within half an hour we where up to 5, 3 in the nets and another 2 digs at 4ft, was easy digging though. the next rabbit shot out of a hole into a net with a ferret attached to its neck and then it was nearly time to pack up so we boxed up my mates ferret and yet again i had to dig to mine but as soon as i got hold of the rabbit my jill let go and moved, i located her again sitting still so i dug down 4.5ft and out came another rabbit with her attached again. final total 8 with 4 of them being dug too not a bad day i guess. photos to be added later on ..... Teal
Good effort, sounds like your jill is a keen worker. A lot of people I know are calling it a season this or next weekend because of youngsters appearing. When that happens it looks like you could do some mole control for the farmer insteadl! I've been ferreting 2-3 times a week, and so far I havn't found a single young one. I've come across a few heavly pregenant does (but not milky) - So I'm hoping I'll get another fornight in at least.
