Cranfield
I have been looking almost every day this week and again this morning. I think the pigeons must recognise my car and clear off. :( Lots of birds around the woods still, nothing on "my" fields. With the wind dropping the last few days, its not very productive shooting. One shot and the birds disappear for quite some time. Its been very murky/misty in this part of Kent, for 3 days now. We need some strong winds and low temperatures. How is everyone else doing ? ernyha
Had a quick look at the rape fieds where we had 85 last week and not a bird to be seen.Mind you the state of the field, they would need water wings to stay afloat. :(
Hammergun
No pigens about today - I expect they are all sat up high in the trees, trying to stay dry. Quite a few crows about - they don't seem as bothered by the rain. Only had an hour spare so set up some decoys, and managed to get 3 (from the shelter of the barn). sutty
Been out today (Mon) hundreds flying in and out of the wood but not interested in decoys/Rape yet, one did pass to take a look (got smoked for its trouble). We had to stay well away from the wood as there is a shoot on tomorrow. Once all the berries have gone things should improve, lets have some good hard frosts. sutty :(
Elma Fud
I was out with a keeper on a local estate, tons of pigeons about. All pigeons were in the woods, and all were still feeding on Beech Mast. None were on rape.
