But a great result in the end, after a diffecult stalk.

Shot was taken at 257 yds (LICA RANGE FINDER,my mates :P ).

With Remington Model 700 BDL .243, using federal 100 grain SP. :) ( My Mates  )

We decided that since he shot it and i brought him onto land i have permision on, that he take the Head and i the meat, it will make great burgers, bolognese ect.

I might, since i have the permision to shoot Vermin on this land, apply for a 6.5 X 55, sometime in the future, as their is a good Fallow population. :)

Never really thought of it before Cranfeild. We usually go by how palmated they are with points, this one looked good.

I watched this particular buck the past 3 weeks, rutting away. But a stronger buck pushed him out of it 2 days ago, the poor thing looked miserable today on his own, wet and tired from the rut. Dont think he would of lasted the winter.

Is their a scoring system?

I hope you have succes on your roe stalk Mark, good luck. :)

Cranfeild, i will ask around on the scoring system, it would be intersting to know how it works.

Nice work Frank!

I picked up my Munjac from the butchers on Saturday so I am waiting to see what that tastes like.

IMHO if you are going for a deer rifle the 6.5 will be far better for fallow than the .243. Mind you, it isn't as flat shooting as the .243 so you will have to stalk up a bit nearer or get familiar with you holdover points  140Grns flatten reds so I am sure they will do the same for fallow.

Thanks Stuart once more, let me know how the muntjack tastes like. I will definatlely go for a 6.5 x 55. Even my mate who has the .243, explained to me how you have to be very carefull on how you place your shots. He is actually going to change to a 6.5 x55 within the next couple of months. He reckons from experience with the .243, that it takes a wee bit longer for the deer to succum when shot in the boiler room, then a 6.5, the 6.5, kills almost instantly with boiler roon shots. I have seen it at work and it is deadly, knocks them right off their feet.
