robbobsam
Hiya Guys, I have just applied for my shotgun certificate/FAC coterminous. I had a SGC many years ago, but I let it expire as I went to live and work in the city and had no need for it. I have now moved back into the countryside and have 200acres of land to shoot on which is overun with pigeons on the rapeseed. I am looking for a gun to use with the decoys and need a little help with choice. I occasionally want to go clayshooting aswell. I am not sure if I would be better off with a semi auto or whether to go for an O/U. I have a budget of £500 max. What do you guys think??? . George1990
Loads of guns around for that money. Just go and find one that you like the feel of. If you want to go on shoots then go for an O/U.
Silhouette
You're a lucky man with that land to shoot on. Both semis and O/Us are good for clay shooting. You get an advantage of an extra shot with the semi if you vermin shooting. Semi's need more care an maintenance than O/Us but will last every bit as long. Lots of choice on the second hand market in your price range. Choose a gun that you like the look and feel of and make sure you try them for fit first. You will never be able to shoot a bad fitting gun properly. Edited March 24, 2010 by Silhouette
mikee
i would find a nice 2nd hand o/u, much easier to have fitted than an auto and you wont get any funny looks if you get an invite to a game shoot mikee

OGGIE
Lamber sporter multichoke 30" barrels. It will do all you want and more. I have recently p/exed mine and wish I hadn't. I also have a semi auto which I just use for the pigeons, they can be looked down on at some clay grounds. Alan
