pegleg31
Sorry pegleg, didn't mean my initial tongue in cheek comment to thwart your thread. If you cannot humanely quiten the dog from you premises, possibly with an ultrasonic anti-bark device or something like it and you can't approach the owners for whatever reason then Env Health are your only option. Document dates and times of disturbance and record if possible to strengthen your case. WGD,i saw no problem with your post and took it with the humour you meant it to be
Evil Elvis
There is nothiong worse when you work shifts and have to get up early. We have just had a similar problem with our next door neighboursdog, Poppy a golden retriever, a lovely dog, but as soon as the owners go oiut she barks constantly. I reached a point where i could stand no more, we have very thick walls and even with the telly ridiculously loud we could still hear her. I went and spoke to the lady of the house and she was mortified, she had no idea, and started putting poppy in the kitchen while out which stops the problem. They do however have the odd lapse and next time they have one i am going to knock and ask if i can have a key so that I can put her in the kitchen myself if they forget...I suspect that will make them more vigilant for a while. I do not blame the dog, she is a sweety. The difference is, apart from the scatty teenage daughter, that she is a nurse the same as me, she is an intelligent professional and considerate. YOU have to deal with brainless chavs. You have several options: Try reasoning with them, controlling your temper and being polite( I have a very very short fuse at the present time so I understand it can be difficult). However, once they know that you are upset, if you chose the other option they will then know it is you!!!! Do what nic said, the most sensible suggestion I have read on this thread: I'd stick it in the car, drive it 100 miles and drop it off at an animal shelter. With a bit of luck it'll get a better owner the second time around! The dog will hopefully end up with a much better life and rehomed, with people who will care for it.I suspect that they wont try too hard to find her and that she wont be micro chipped. If you chose this option tell no-one, not even your partner. Do not: Get into a row with them, yes you will feel better for pummelling some stinking chav *** but you wont when you lose your guns. Dont take it out on the dog, you have said you wont and dont, BUT there will come a time when you will lose that compassion!!! TRUST ME! GOOD LUCK
jasper3
We had the same problem pegleg the neighbours had a german shepherd..every morning at 6am this loud low droning bark would start followed by the screaming of the mother to her three kids the farther with his high pitch scraming voice would then start every time we would go out our back garden..the dog would start jumping against the fence and start barking again I came home one day...and no noise i went out the back garden and still no noise I later found out the dog had eat thier pet rabbit :look: 3 weeks later..they moved .... :o and now we have cracking neighbours with a black lab...... quiet as a church mouse my thoughts are with you buddy..it aint nice... jasp
turbo33
I envy you Jasper, I live and pray our neighbours would move, they don't have a dog (yet!) but the screaming and shouting that comes from both the parents and the 3 children is beyond everones imagination. It starts at 7am or earlier in the summer and continues throughout the day till 8 or later on a summer evening. I totally sympathise with anyone that has thses types of neighbours yapping dog/screaming children or anything else that destroys the sanctity of your home. Unless you have been there you have no idea. And without creating very ill feeling, there isn't a lot you can do. We have seriously thought of moving to get away from it, but there isn't a cat in hells chance of anyone buying our house, one viewing and they would be off!!! jasper3
hello Turbo.... got to be honest..the kids were great..ok !! they did a bit of shouting..but nothing compared to the parents I did laugh to myself one day, when the mother shouted to the 3yr old.... "Come here" "I'm going to smack you" the 3yr old looked up and said calmly "no" it does get under your skin when you know you can't do nothing about it.... you know deep down, if you go around, it wont solve much apart from causing more grief Edited March 27, 2010 by jasper3
activeviii
Quick thought, whats the houses on the other side saying or doing. if you talk to them first you may find they are in he same boat as you and not sure what to do either, so a chat to them might put more strength to your case when you all phone the council on monday morning. i know it doesn't help you right now but you have put up with it this long so a little long and some nitealls for you would help.haha. dont do around there as you will be the target once they get there warnings for the barking. next thing you know you have your car resprayed and your winds opened up with a brick. next thing they are targeting your sport and saying you have threatened to shoot them and there dog, result being your guns and ticket have been taken and they have the last laugh. put up with it a little longer kidda, you have this long so 1 more day then dog warden. have a chat to the other neighbors for there thoughts easy for me to say i guess but i had it with a German Shepard for years, i was lied up for 8 weeks with a bust up back, i had to put up with it, i use to shout from my bed all the time. once i saw walking again i was out side and the dog started its stupid winning and bark, i shouted at the dog to shut up and at the owners to shut him up. they slammed the door shut. few weeks later i was told that they had being s\ying good bye to the dog as they where just taking him in to be put to sleep..........oh how small the 7foot bloke felt. best of luck and all the best Phil oh and dont worry about JRS as he is your neighbour judging by the comments made. just as well there's a block user feature on this forum so i dont have to read more of his ****.hehe. "Dont take it out on the dog, you have said you wont and dont, BUT there will come a time when you will lose that compassion!!! TRUST ME!" it really is'nt the dog's fault and i don't think i could ever bring myself to harm a dog .find it a new owner maybe and thanks for all the possitive advice last night was hard getting it in one ear from the dog and the other from the other half
dazza
Dont go round to your neighbour, because a quiet word can soon turn into a barney, report them to the Rspca, keeping a dog in the garden all the time aint on,its a welfare issue for the dog,and its not nice for neighbours as youve found out, sounds to me,they dont give a toss about the poor dog,and youd be doing the poor dog a favour if it gets re-homed.Are they cleaning up after the dog(mess)because if not,you need to get a move on sorting this before the hot weather arrives otherwise the dog yapping will be the least of your worries Re homed my ****. If it's a Staffy it will be killed. RSPCA are scum.
Chally2
Any news. Some times owners don't know that their dogs bark when they are away, I was told my dogs barked when I went out. When I was told I could do something about it, but if the owners don't know then they can't help.
Evil Elvis
it really is'nt the dog's fault and i don't think i could ever bring myself to harm a dog Dude, i really wasnt implying that you would hurt the dog, i merely meant that now you blame the owners but eventually, no matter how mild mannered or tolerant you are YOU WILL HATE THAT DOG!!! Re homed my ****. If it's a Staffy it will be killed. RSPCA are scum. I totally agree, im not a fan of staffies but the rspca are scum, worse than the people thay are supposed to prosecute in my mind!!! I never thought id say anyone was worse than chavs...but they are DO NOT GO DOWN THE RSPCA ROUTE, YOU WILL END UP FEELING WORTHLESS AND DEFILED.....
