decent bag of crows on the drilling

went out on the spring barley drilling yesterday afternoon, put out 30 of my black bale wrap crow deeks and a couple of full bodied nonflocked along with 6 full body pigeon deeks and settled into the most basic of hides against a bank. started shooting at 1 and finished at 4.30 the crows came in all of the time except for when it started drizzling. was only using 28g 7.5s but if u keep ranges reasonably short then they do the trick as almost all of the birds were dead in the air. Final tally for the day was 70 crows (jackdaws, rooks, carrions) 1 magpie (not shown as was in the top of the hedge!!) and four pigeons ( one flew at least 150 yards then spiralled down dead and i collected it as i walked off the field)!! all in all a good afternoon even if pigeons were hard to find, also good to be outwitting the birds with nothing more technical than bale wrap on sticks and a couple of stationary full bodies!!! great fun!

Great bit of sport there mate, well done :D

Any tips on how to make the bale wrap deeks? seen a few videos of people using them now and certainly seem to do the trick

thanks

Mike

well i dont know as to wat u have seen previously but all i did was cut a triangle around 30cm in length from the bale wrap then seperate the layers so that each triangle only has about 4/5 layers. then i make a crude peg out of t a stick or pigeon stakes attach the wrap and stand it in the ground so that the top is about 35cm up to allow it to blow around in the wind. cost=0 time per 10=around 10mins results=test them and u tell me!!

here you are some from the wind today to show the movement yeah defo try these ******* before you fork out for "professional" ones!!! you could very well be surprised i have used them for years and have never had any problems other than wat i wud expect. you can carry anything up to a hundred in a largeish bag and this pattern only takes on average 2.5 mins to set up leaving more time for the hide and shooting....perfect!

Wow, is that it? Doesnt the flapping of the wrap in the wind spook the crows? Will definately try this at the weekend.
