fortune82
Whilst having a look around the local gun shop I noticed a few 3 1/2 inch semi autos. It suddenly occured to me if you were firing 65mm cartridges could you not get 4 in the gun? 3 in the mag tube and one up the spout?

Yes your right. If this happens then your in posession of a FAC shotgun.I spoke to my FAC Dept before i purchased my SX3 and they said the same thing! Also though if you put in 65mm carts then there is a possibility that your gun could could jam and not extract your empty cartridge! fortune82
would a 65mm cartridge function properly in a 3.5 inch gun considering you would have an inch of chamber before the wad reached the forcing cone? I havent bought one and am unlikely to either but was just thinking!

And yes they can hold 3 carts in the tube, but as responsible law abiding shooters we dont do it

stevew
They work in my Xtrema2 as well, but mine's an 8- shot FAC version anyway.

Kent Militia
Yes you don't want to do that since if you don't have an FAC for a section 1 shotgun it would be breaking the law.
CZ550Kevlar
There was a spot of controversy about this subject recently if i remember correctly, there is a company producing a short cartidge that would allow 3 in the mag even with a 3" chambered gun, surprise surprise no sign of these carts on the shelf yet for obvious reasons. Kent Militia
I have seen those cartridges in question, they are not common but are available. It is true what they say about them as well.
