Dekers
Last time I head these sort of figures quoted it was about 50,000 a year, I only remember because it was about 1000 a week, so its certainly going up! It's a sobering thought and one that is frankly difficult to take in, that is heading toward 1500 a week, or approx 200 per DAY! Makes you think!! (allegedly foxes are circa 100,000 per year!) docholiday
I am enjoying my stalking and think they are def. on the rise, we took out 80 odd in the last 12 months over about 8000 acres. numbers are increasing and they are spreading. I think it will not be long before the gov. get involved and try to cull a lot more than we are taking doc
joke209061
Im still in the process of getting my fac, but the munc'ies are aplenty on my permission. I spoke with a guy from suffolk a while back, he controls the deer on the sizewell power plant areas, and he said that thier quotas were on the rise and they were struggling to cope. I think it was 500, im supprised people still find it so hard to gain permissions when the general opinion is that more pest and deer control is required. Boromir
You could come up here and shoot loads as we're overloaded with Red deer and there gonna eat all those lovely Scot's pine I just planted or going to plant But you wont be allowed the Gamekeeper is a grumpy old *** and wont allow anyone else to shoot the land unless you know him like me. He's old you see and struggles to bring the deer in, so only manages to shoot a small number of them.
Vipa
Isn't there an organisation like the NPPC but for deer? Maybe John could look at branching out. With the price I pay for recreational stalks NOT to be able to keep the meat, I would be more than happy to shell out a few hundred a year to be part of 'National Deer Conrol'
