shoughton
FAC arrived in the post at 2:30pm, in the gun shop by 3:30pm! Eastern Sporting are a fantastic shop and did a great job getting me kitted out. Fortunately I have a half day today, so will be zeroing in this afternoon. The new Leupold 6x42 scope looks better than anything I've owned before too. All being well I hope to be bunny bashing at dawn tomorrow. njc110381
Well done on getting your first FAC. You've made a good choice with the gun and scope combo and balanced your finances very well I think. The CZ is a cracking little gun which is somewhat let down by the trigger. If it's a bit creepy seriously consider fitting a brookes kit to it. I think they cost £12 and will make the rifle so much nicer to shoot. You may be lucky and get a good trigger though, so give it a few shots before you decide. Apart from the slightly agricultural trigger they shoot very well and I'd never buy anything else in rimfire form. They are great value for money and extremely accurate. Have fun and most importantly be safe. With a moderated .22 it's all too easy to forget how much power you're letting go when you pull the trigger. I'm sure you know that but it's something I say to every new shooter I reply to on here. Be careful and enjoy yourself, and let us know how you get on. EDIT... Had to fix the spelling in this! And I wasn't even drunk when I wrote it! Edited April 17, 2010 by njc110381
shoughton
Thanks for the comments guys. We zeroed in the scope and enjoyed 100 rounds through the gun, eventually managing to consistently clover leaf shots at 50 yards. After a cuppa and boring my wife with various rifle details my Son and I went for a walk around the shoot. We were almost back to the car having seen no rabbits (typical) and I spotted a hare out in the wheat field. The range was a little beyond 50 yards so after measuring it with the new range finder I gave it 3" of hold over and then pulled the trigger. Perfect shot and a clean kill - what a cracking way to christen the new gun. It turned out to be the largest hare I've ever seen. I limit myself to a maximum of 4 per year - so this is number 1 and will be on the table tonight. I was shocked at the power of the .22lr - it tore apart our metal target holder that had been used for the air rifles. It just blasted holes straight through 1mm steel plate at 50 yards - didn't seem possible given the tiny crack when pulling the trigger. The SAK mod obviously does it job well. Agreed regarding the trigger - that is my ONLY criticism of the rifle. The pull pressure is just too hard and sometimes affects my shot. I've decided to leave it for a while to see how it beds in - then I will investigate reducing the required pressure (I believe it's adjustable) and also the Brookes kit that I've heard so much about. Any recommendations where to buy it? Overall I'm chuffed to bits with the rifle. In addition to being a great hunting tool it really is great fun to use too. njc110381
I get my kits from http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/trigger_kits.html They're a nice company to deal with. Regarding the power, 1mm steel plate has no hope against a powder burner! Even the little .22lr will turn that into a sieve in no time! You wait until you get into it a bit more and see what a centrefire can do. My 6.5 will go through 10mm steel road plate just like your .22lr did your target holder! It's an eye opening experience when you see it!

shoughton
Fitted the kit - the trigger is lovely now. I can recommend the rimfiremagic kit. You do need a good set of pin punches though. Steve

chezza1986
My dad has bought a CZ .22lr in the varmint barrel with a SAK moderator. What a gun! We go out at night bunny busting and is really really quiet with the sub-sonic ammunition but still excellent kills. Got a .17hmr aswell which is brilliant but if going for the pot and close range work you can't beat the .22 Which brand of ammunition do you use?? We use Winchester as proved the best groups for us?? Good hunting, Jack
Dekers
As you can see I quite like the CZ, but I have seldom heard a bad word anyway...my American is actually a WMR.... HMR and .22lr in there as well...ATB!! Edited April 18, 2010 by Dekers
