454697819
Evening Popped accross to my neighbour who is letting me get rid of his rabbits. Waited about 5 minutes and got one with a 20 yard shot, it was a sufficiently clean kill that I was happy, as I havent cleaned one before, I didnt want more to deal with more than 1. Any way, decided to learn to sort one out tonight, it went well enough that I have a nice good size fresh rabbit sitting in salt water in the fridge, ready to try in a stew next week.. I am pleasently supprised with myself that I managed to shoot it and prep it ready for dinner. Any way.. things I have learnt.. 1.) I can hit a moving target, 2.) I need sharper knives 3.) I need an airrifle to ensure clean head shots 4.) Rabbits are a damn site tougher than they look... Here is hoping I like the taste of rabbit.. Any idea how long it will keep fresh in the fridge? Cheers All Edited April 16, 2010 by 454697819

Ozzy Fudd
wee tip for you, soak it overnight in salt water in the fridge, softens it up a bit and gets rid of some of the strong taste id leave it 2 or 3 days at most
Frenchieboy
I find that I can leave them in the fridge for up to about 3 or 4 days safely enough but I prefer to soak them overnight in salt water first to remove any traces of blood from the flesh and then wrap them in Cling Film before refirdgeration - it depending on what temperature your fridge is set at to determin how long they are safe to store for (I guess). aaron airgunner
nice going mate! sorry did you shoot it with your hatsan? using an air rifle means 1)you cannot hit a moving target 2)you dont get the meat peppered with shot.

Yes I shot it at 20 yards with the Hatsan, worked very well with a 32g 6.5 shot pigeon cartridge. I want the air rifle so I can snipe the ******* better as 1 bang from the shotgun and everything in the nearest 30 miles disappears underground.. libs
Use #5's in future, 32g RC snipe can't be beaten for rabbits. Centre pattern with 1/2 choke and they won't be kicking for long!
