Beardo
Zeiss, Swarovski or S&B - you won't really go wrong with any of them. i have all three - Zeiss and S&B 8x56s (great stalking scopes) and a Swarovski PV 6-24x50 which is use for foxing as i prefer to have a bit more zoom. inthedark
I've got an NXS 12 - 42 on a remy 700, and an S & B 8 x 56 on a Browning A bolt, both for foxing. The S & B is the better tool for the job, but the NXS wins on quality.

cleaner4hire
imo if you only want it for lamping get a 8x56 in which ever manufacturer flavour you prefer. Nice, easy to pick up ret and no faffing around with focus *****. If you are feeling flush then maybe an ill ret.... That said, I now have a 6-20 zeiss for mine as I wanted more mag for some longer range daytime stuff but the 8x56 was more than adequate for normal fox ranges and excellent in low light. IOR are also excellent scopes - I have one on my 20TAC. Optically its very good value for money. Ive been through a lot of scopes to end up with what I have at the moment and am pretty happy. The only scopes I aspire to own in the future are 6-24 zeiss diavari and S&B 4-16 PMII
