IKNIGHT167
Hello there, Just awating Shotgun certificate, sent off two and a half weeks ago so only got the confirmation of receipt back. What it the concensus of opinion regarding the fitting of my cabinet, ie am I best waiting for my first visit from the Firearms Officer and wait to be told how/where to sight it and then have to wait for a further visit for them to inspect, or, am I best fitting it where I think best before any visit? The property is an old cottage so not many walls are straight so it looks like wherever I mount it there could be a bit of daylight between the back of the cabinet and the wall, not sure if that's a problem. The cabinet is a five gun Brattonsound and I was thinking of mounting either in the deep narrow recess at the side of the fireplace in the sitting room ( there would be brickwork between the fire and the cabinet) , or uptairs in a spare room. Any advice regarding the fitting would be greatly appreciated Also is there any requirement for fitting a security system other than the dog that is at home all day? Cheers

stokie
hello and welcome. You obviously already have your cabinet so get it fixed . That way you will only need one visit . The only requirement i was told by our feo is that a safe should be out of sight of a casual caller
Lez325
I would say fit the gun safe in your spare room- its out of sight then - the living room is a little too public and weho wants a gun safe stuck next to the fire place lol Les welcome to the forum
