Ricko
I am after a new 45 gallon steel drum to make a BBQ. Are they easy to get hold of? How much are they? Where can I get one in the North West? Cheers Edited July 5, 2010 by ricko
Paul223
Have a look around for firms that sell oils, hydraulic oil, engine oil and so on, ask if they have one spare, they might want a couple of quid
Snap Cap
Try Blagden packaging in Manchester. They make food grade drums for cooking oils etc. They are about £7 each.
Gunner Chip
You could try a scrapyard
Snap Cap
You reallyb should get a new one. You have no idea what has been kept in old ones. And then theres the cleaning out when you have cut it in half. Some say burn them clean but they don't half smoke and give off all sorts of fumes even if you have washed them through. guest1957
If you get the chance go for a 1mm thick drum, they will outlast standard oil/grease drums quite significantly. We have a BBA built from one originally used to ship perfume of all things...
jonno 357
Should be alright with a normal steel one. Give it a wash out. There's only 4 cats of chemicals you can store or transport in steel drums. Food grade are plastic lined. and most are all plastic drums and not steel

shot shot
if it's got to be a used one, I'd go for one that had cooking oil in it. saves the worry of poisoning
