kwagga10
Hi all! I am from South Africa, came over about 3 years ago. Never knew the UK had such a big shooting community, but boy am I glad I found it!!! Bought a Beretta Silver Pigeon S, man what a gun it is. Made my first kill was at the age of 5 years, a dove...my dad told me if I eat the heart I will never miss again...what a fool I was! At the age of 7 I shot my first springbuck ram, my dad told me if I eat the liver I would never miss again...life is tough!! Anyway, just wanted to say hi. Happy shooting! For me the Beretta shop is like a Toy's R Us for kids, you want to touch and play with everything, but the salesman doesn't trust that happy look in your eyes! It is very difficult to get a license in south africa, it takes a long time before your license is granted! how does he want to do it? Get a shotgun certificate over here and then take it back? kwagga10
Welcome along Bet you have some good stories to share Last storie...My dad sights in his .270 Musgrave, a South African make rifle, a day before the shoot starts. I call it a shoot because the farmer used horses to push the springbuck closer to the hunters, a very popular method of hunting/shooting in South Africa. I only arrived on the morning of the shoot, due to school responsibilities. We agreed to take turns, he would go first. We had to shoot some buck for other people so that meant head shots only. My dad went first, head shot, nice. My turn came, shot over the head, my dad said, close. His turn, great head shot. My turn, over the head, close said my dad. It went on like that for three 'rounds'. My dad made four nice head shots that day. I was in a bad shape...He turned and said, the gun zero's at 200m and shoots around 25mm high on 100m....I was well angree, he said never use a borrowed gun, especially if you didn't fire it on the shooting range before the hunt. He laught his @ss off, but it was a lesson well learned.

kwagga10
should have told you straight away wot if you had hurt the animal and it got away accidents happen, sometimes people wound animals with guns that they have known for years, and they end up shooting it hours later, sometimes the next day...
