cpsa wont allow them to do it without the shooters being members. If they do cpsa will remove the membership of the ground thus not allowing any more comps. That is why you can now join cpsa for a day cheap.

You on a mac? if so its unix based. linux is basically dif version of unix

on my test machines i could crack my own WEP (just for these thread i will mention not to try any of the suggestions on anyone elses network as it is illegal) in about 5 mins using vmware and another piece of brilliant linux based OS that i cant remember.

Like i said in my previous post. The main problem is, there is not enough money to be made in hosting a competition unless its a major one.

Why use 2 laptops for cracking WEP lol. As for the mac address is easy to get around that aswell. The main problem is, is that there is a lot of people about(especially the younger generation) that can easily get around all the security if they want to. The good thing is for most people, is that, a lot of the viruses around now are only after nicking your bank details and not trying to wipe your HDD(no money in wiping the HDD)

another thing that still scares me is the amount of unsecured networks that are still available to log onto. I even leave mine unsecure every now and again and leave sniffers running to see how many people log on and use it.

You are of course correct. Ive been in the business for long enough to know how to get around most of it. I certainly dont do it at all now. But if a person wants to its not that hard to get away with. Its getting harder with WEP encription being near enough extinct.

there are also many programs about now that will record media from legal porn sites or video sites straight to your computer.

If you spend a little time doing research, you can download anything u wish without being traced or caught.

I have shot the odd competition now again and find (or did when i was shooting) that some of the best shooting is the competition layouts. The main problem that i had was-I had to pay for one of the associations either an annual fee or a large fee to join for the day. This put me off a little. I also know for a fact that a lot of the good grounds stopped putting the competitions on because they where not allowed to let regular shooters shoot said competitions without being a member of the association thus the grounds started losing money as the amount of shooters on the day they had for a practice/general shoot was less than the amount of shooters shooting the competition thus losing the ground money.

hmm im on the fence also. The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that your ISP is being forced to provide the said authorities with your details, if the ISP detect that you are sharing/downloading copyrighted content. The bit that annoys me is "what is the point of data protection" If the authorities can just pick and choose what data you provide is protected. Im fairly sure when i signed up to my ISP (not that i am aware of anyway as it was a while ago) there wasnt anything in the contract that implied that if i did share a few files or downloaded any files that they would DOBB me in. I can understand where the said companies are coming from regarding their material being used illeagaly, but because they find it SO hard to stop the sites that are there for you to download what you wish, they (in my opinion) have let the authorities know how much money the government are losing in tax with the illeagal downloading. Thats the reason (in my opinion) for the crackdown on us as it is far easier to threaten the ISP and put the problem onto them as it is easier to find the people that are doing it instead of finding the guys that make the sites to download from.

Thats good to know because i was allways under the impression you had to have a european firearms pass type thing.

one of the problems that can arise also when you get pulled is that- You may not know who you are insured with. e.g. A lot of people either use a broker or one of the many compare sites (not so much with a compare site) but you may know who the broker is e.g. swinton, kwik fit(just to name 2). But they are only brokers and not the insurance providers thus a lot of people will only rember the brokers name so when the police need to check if you dont know who you are insured with it makes the job even harder for them.
