soreshoulder
this is probably a bit off topic but in the book 'shootings weirdest days' there is an account of a guy some 100 years back who had trained 4 pigs to retrieve shot game. Well worth a read

Ozzy Fudd
nice to see someone else using them as gun dogs i trained arnie, my first rottweiler, to flush and retrieve for me. got a lot of **** taking at the time for it but it worked, he'd flush rabbits out and chase them into the open, as soon as i'd shout "fire!" he'd stop and sit down so i could get a clean shot, then pick it up and (usually) bring it to me, though on a few occasions he decided that it was his turn to have a share of the spoils Edited July 23, 2010 by Ozzy Fudd

She also represented the breed in Crufts in discover dogs, yet I did'nt have papers for her.

UKPoacher
As far as I know Rotties were bred as herding dogs, or to accompany shepherds and drovers. As such they will readily work for the handler. I used to have a GSD bitch that would flush and retrieve. One beater's day she was the only dog amongst a line of 8 walking guns, and during the day flushed and retrieved 54 pheasants. In snow too. I also had three working sheepdogs that I trained to the gun. They were all different; one worked like a spaniel, one worked like a pointer and the other was a canine bulldozer. No cover was too dense for Kyle. The looks I got when I turned up at a shoot for the first time with two or three sheepdogs. But I always got asked back. Sponsered at the time by Eukanuba, I still have the pics, also one with the bitch and Rolf Harris.

bicykillgaz
lovely looking dog mate, shame they get the rep they do as there a fantastic breed i've always wanted one but never been practical for me i'll get one eventually though, apparently the germans use them for various forms of hunting but i would think its more boar and stuff like that.
