welsh warrior
is it true if you fire a rifle to many times that the silencer can become welded on ? even a 22 or a 17 hmr?
sleekitfox
Carbon build up on threads and any moisture, will bind the threads but it wont weld them together, i always free mod. a little after each use, and clean threads once a week. John_R
It is probably a combination of how many shots, and how long the mod is left on that results in them getting stuck. Condensation, vapours, residues etc cannot be good in the long run.
Billy.
My .17 mod used to become almost impossible to remove.
steve_b_wales
Moderators can get a bit tight if left on too long. I always smear some Copper Grease (available from Halfords) on the threads.
Celticranger
is it true if you fire a rifle to many times that the silencer can become welded on ? even a 22 or a 17 hmr? I service my Browning T bolt once a year, and always put Coppa Slip on the silencer threads. I did have problems till I used Coppa Slip. Available from Motor Factors I use it when reassembling parts on my 4X4. Cheers hope that helps
Dekers
what about big cals maybe say a 308 i hear the heat can actually weld it NO!! Welded together is just a "term" commonly used to cover the deposits, they can get VERY hot but not that hot! PS Big Boys have Sound Moderators, BB/Airsoft/etc owners have Silencers...not that they need them!! Edited July 31, 2010 by Dekers
the running man
U hear the term silencer being used less and less these days, there called moderators for a reason,I've only ever heard one rifle that was completely silent,a .22 with built on mod, bolt action.armalon customised goucher I think it was. Any how clean ure mods! No sticky sticky!
