busdennis Posted August 11, 2010 Report Share Posted August 11, 2010 hi all after searching for a challenger or surf for months today ive taken the plunge on a trooper from a car auction. swb y reg with 12 months mot 3 months tax 80,000 miles and no service history. searching the web i see the timing belts on these are due at 60,000 so working on the no history part of the sale it needs doing. in the past ive built a few aircooled engines and replaced the head on a series 3 2.25 landrover but never attempted anything like this. is it a big job needing special tools or a diy job, anybody fancy some beer tokens for taking a supervisory role denny Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

garygreengrass Posted August 12, 2010 Report Share Posted August 12, 2010 A lot people are a the same when it comes to timing belts, get yourself a manual and as long you lock every thing in place so nothing can move you will be OK, I normally use drill bits. Lez325 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Share Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) There are no rear windows on the sides they are metal (As its a commercial vehicle- a 4x4 van if you like)- the back door has glass which I tinted black with the film you get from diy motor factors at around £20 I like the fact there is no glass in the panels as loading with Pigeon Shooting gear etc etc means no chance of breaking a window as you sling stuff in to avoid the rain lol heres the inside- sorry about the mess - thats what I carry most of the time - Stalking gear and Hide Gear- with plenty of room left over Les Edited August 24, 2010 by Lez325 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
