Down South
The only time you might get feed problems with a Quad is if you laod a mag and the bolt is not fully backor closed, this means that the bolt misses the rim when pushed forward. Operator error, it would probably happen on any rifle in the same situation. As for ejection and bolt lift, no problem.
dunganick
There is no problem with ejection or feed on Sako rifles. Someone has read about a couple of isolated problems on Internet forums and just repeated about them. I only speak from hands on experience, i dont repeat gossip and heresay. Any rifle should only fire with the bolt fully closed, otherweise the lugs are not in full contact with the receiver! Anschutz rifles have a half cock facitlity on their bolts, the bolt can be closed half way down with a round in the chamber but still not release the firing pin sear onto the trigger sear, therefore be carried safely with a round in and the bolt half closed but it cannot fire even if dropped because the firing pin is held captive. Usual saftey messages apply about carrying loaded guns but I for one run my thumb down the bolt handle as I take off the safety before the shot. its just habit, same as when i thumb forward the safety on my shotgun every time i mount the gun even though the safety is manual! Its just subconcious habit. Only a **** gun should fire with the bolt half open and most safeties lock the bolt shut for this reason(Remington and im sure a few others dont). So take note, its a designed in feature on Anschutz and thats why its a very safe rifle. Lets not talk about rifles where the safety catch runs the opposite way to normal (cz)shall we, now there is a dumb feature! i also talk from first hand experiance, every single sako finfire, whether sporter, varmint or range i have used cannot consistantly eject an unfired round once it have been chambered. i have seen and handled maybe 5 or 6 finfires, possibly more, each owner says the same. im sorry if you disagree, but i have seen it in all the finfires i have handled, and heard it from other owners. the bolt lift in the anschutz is not like lifting the bolt, it is more like lifting the slack in the bolt. people who have handeled the rifle know what i mean. Axe
Are you saying Nick, that the Quad has the same action as the Finfire? Edited January 10, 2006 by Axe
dunganick
no not at all anyway, to my knoledge
Axe
My understanding is that the Quad has an all new action which obviously incorporates the new multi-barrel ability. Anyway, I have plenty of ammo (pardon the pun) to return to the gun shop with. I'm still gonna get the Quad either way. The next thing will be trying to battle out, how it goes down on the ticket with Sussex Police. They don't normally give Fox & Rabbit on .22 and .177 if you have them both. But its not quite the same with the Quad, is it? Edited January 10, 2006 by Axe
dunganick
i never said anything about yanking nor would i ever put a round of dropped ammo back into any rifle or shotgun, even if it is just a CZ
dunganick
fair play, im waiting for them to send me mine hopefully on the door mat in the next week, fingers crossed. when i got home today i asked my mum if i had any letters (i normally have none) hoping maybe plod had sent me my variation back, "yeh a few she replied", great i thought......plod has got his finger out..... nope just lots of letters for the PW bisley meet. oh well
al4x
unlike the CZ which wouldnt feed 20% of the time. Hi there Fister, thought I had to add a comment seeing as I now own the aforementioned CZ .17, I have to say with the work you'd done to it it shoots fantastically for what I use it for which is Rabbits, rabbits and still more rabbits with the odd rook and 4 foxes so far. Oddly enough though I don't think its failed to feed ever and thats with something like 500 rounds through it. So I'd say to anyone looking don't discount the CZ for the price its good value IMHO
jonno 357
nor would i ever put a round of dropped ammo back into any rifle or shotgun, even if it is just a CZ Why not ? Jonno
dunganick
just wouldnt dropped rimfire gets taken to the range and used to be used in my dads lovely nylon remington 10 rounds gone in 3 or 4 secs, about as accurate as a shotgun, and built like a toy. unfortuantly now its been destroyed, so dropped ammo is normally discarded in back poacket and put in a plastic bag in the safe. shotgun shells are cleaned once i get home with a dry brush, to get dirt out of crimps, then stuck in with the rest of the carts. what with all the dirt i get in my pocket, it probably dosent make sod all difference, but shooting is often about mind games, and if doing this keeps my mind happy, so beit.
