rabbit.slayer.no.1
hi guys im looking in to getting my hw90k dipped with realtree camo, its going to cost around £170 for the whole gun dipped. the gun stands me £300 at the min but will it be worth doing it? i tryed that camo tape and its **** it just came off after 2 or 3 trips out and looks really ****. i cant use a camo sock and its a break barrel , so any ideas wot i can do or should i just leave it the way it is , its a really clean gun and no makes or scraps. Dekers
What are you trying to achieve in dipping it? Black and brown guns can easily look like branches/country debris, it is commonly the shooter that is more obvious than the gun anyway! Cost wise, the odds are you will never get it back at sale time! But it can look interesting and be a talking point! But we go back to my first comment....What are you trying to achieve in dipping it? Edited August 29, 2010 by Dekers

But we go back to my first comment....What are you trying to achieve in dipping it? well since ive spend a packit on camo close and gear . i was thinking maybe the rifle would need to be camo'ed two. but you make a point about it looking like a branches/country debris. so i should leave it alone then? Zapp
rabbit.slayer.no.1 Please dont take this the wrong way, because I am not having a dig at you. I am 33 (nearly 34). When I was a teenager, which is not really that long ago, I shot thousands of rabbits in day and night time conditions with a few air rifles. I did this for the most part whilst wearing an old wax jacket, a pair of lightweight trousers, some very quiet boots and a bush hat. All it took was some thought about wind direction, timing and knowledge of my quarry and my landscape. All my airguns were (and still are) wood and metal. Soooooo much of the camouflage tape/paintjob/clothing/equipment is acompletely pointless waste of money, and a poor and inaffective alternative to developing real fieldcraft. How camouflaged is a fox? Not very when it comes down to it. But he is quiet, stealthy and knows his quarry, so he gets close enough to grab it, let alone shoot it. Please dont waste your money, and dont ruin a nice rifle, unless of course you just want an excuse to have a cammed up gun. In that case, please dont do it to a Weirauch break barrel, as they are a classic of the future. Again, I am not having a pop, but learn to hunt properly with an air rifle, by stealth and fieldcraft. If you arent killing enough then it is your fieldcraft and not your cammo that is lacking.
tomto
I would be tempted to watch some videos on how to do it on youtube or something and have a go myself if you mess it up you can always send it off then but im sure you would be able to do a decent job of it yourself. HDF
I wouldn't do it myself, £170 seems like a lot of money and i'm not sure how much difference it would make in the field, but if you're not planning on selling it and really want to, go for it. bigchap
don't do it! i hunt with a prosport which is nice and shiny and has a polished aluminium moderator, the rabbits never see me. a camo rifle is totally unnecessary, good field craft is the answer. rimfire4969
There is no subsitute for good fieldcraft, But its your money do what you want. I personal would not buy a camo rifle.
