Mr Potter
Dolphin Clay Target CentreLongton, Nr Preston Has anyone used this facility, what is it like, what are the prices like or is it members only?? Cheers Ricko, The Dolphin (also known affectionately as the Flying Fish) is a great little shooting ground, the backbone of clayshooting in the UK. They shoot every Sunday starting at about 10:30 till about 13:00, 30 bird sporting, 10 bird DTL and 10 bird ABT. They have a summer series from April to September on the 1st Sunday of the month which was a 50 birder. The shoot is really very good, usually 6 or 7 stands and quite challenging, my mate reckons it was like shooting the British Open. No wad restriction, plastic or fibre, and very friendly (they don't give you their daughters but don't turn their back on you either :look: :look: All in all very highly recommended, you don't need to be a member and the only drawback I can see is that you can't get a bacon butty but you can get a brew and a delicious piece of fruit cake. Hope this helps Mr Potter
whiskymac
I need to try this shoot one Sunday, it's only about 20 mins from my front door.
Gordon R
I'm with Mr Potter on this. Not a massive ground, but enough variety and they make good use of what is basically a flat field shoot. Car parking is okay rather than plentiful, with lack of hot food the only down side. beardy1
I have used this ground for best part of 30 years on and off. Have some of the best birds for a small ground you will find. Have a good high tower and Max the owner finds ways of showing different bird every week. You will find them friendly and helpful. O and there are some pretty good shots as well.
