Billy.
Has anyone packed a baikal hushpower silencer? Did it work/make any difference? Would a poster tube be any good? They come in all sizes and can easily be cut.
Paddy Galore!
No, but i did make a moderator to fit on the end of a benelli, that got packed lightly with some fine glass mat, worked a treat, the wife was washing up with the kitchen window open and didn't hear me let off a subsonic eley at the bottom of the garden. Guest gloker
I only ask as I just stripped mine to clean it. (they get proper caked!) there is no packing in mine at all. Just holes in the barrel, escaping gases into tube then a milled 'flash eliminator' baffle at far end. I would have thought that a bit of packing with carbon or similar would increase the moderator effect? (only really noticeable with subs.) is glass mat heat resistant? Cheap? sitsinhedges
Has anyone packed a baikal hushpower silencer? Did it work/make any difference? I tried wrapping aluminium body repair sheet around mine but it didn't make any difference. There's a lot to be said for good old fashioned fresh air for the pressure wave to expand into
Guest gloker
My dad is using my mossy hushpower, so I'm having some fun with this baikal! Good little bunny gun, even taken some fast birds with it! I know they aren't supposed to be packed but I was looking to increase the moderator effect by packing it with carbon or similar and just wondered if anyone had done it? If not, I'll experiment with a few different things and post the results. I don't have a db meter but I could try video it?
remmy1100
Packing it with wire wool will silence it quite a bit it worked on my silencer.
chrispti
One spark and wire wool will catch fire/burn!! Some kind of fire retardent pipe lagging would do, but you need to keep it from getting into the holes in the barel.
Paddy Galore!
like i said fibre glass mat worked with mine, you could also try a fire blanket, anything fire retardant that will absorb the noise well.
Guest gloker
Im gonna try a few different things and post the results. watch this space.
drut
Not a Baikal but on my 12g Pedretti Hushpower I wrapped the silencer tube with bike handlebar foam tape(feels a lot better to hold for me especially in winter) & noticed a drop in noise as a bonus.Possibly a neoprene cover may do the same.
