Knitting

So, at the risk of being labelled a gaylord or worse, my knit stitches are too tight and very tricky to slide along the needle, whereas my purl stitches are just right.

What, if anything am I doing wrong? Or is it just a case of practice makes perfect?

Ahh! He without sin cast the first stone. I tried knitting once, when I was about 17 or 18. I was too poor to go out to the pub as I was on a YTS and I used to go round my mate's girlfriends house and we ended up kitting by candle light. They were so poor that the electricity had been turned off. I started to knit a scarf. It was about 9" in width and after a couple of feet or so it had expanded to about twice that so I gave up.
