I've been reading recent threads and decide to buy a crow call. Being one for a bargin I ended up getting an Acme crow call, "also great for magpies"

 

Anyone got one, tried one or thrown it in the bin ?

 

It reminds me of a Punch & Judy show. Or is that the idea, the birds come in for a bit of a laugh!

 

My little boy likes it so the five quid wont be wasted!

I havent got the Acme one (i have a Primos) and it takes a bit of practice to perfect the various calls.Dont try blowing like its a bugle,but instead bring sounds up from within your throat.Its hard to describe how and will require you to simply practice,but also listen to living crows.

 

Once you know how they really are devestatingly good.

I have a Sam Nyet?? Crow call the instructions are really helpful with it works like a charm

try coughing into it rather than blowing, you need to use air from your chest area, rather than your mouth, using it in a cupped hand alters the tone,

 

or as if you were bringing up flem is another way

Sort of growl from the back of your throat takes a bit of practise. Check out Corvus sam YouTube vids .

Another vote for the Primos. I have used these calls for years, and in my opinion, they are the best. Like anything else, you have to know how to use it, but once mastered, it really is excellent.

PW members who have witnessed me using this caller will agree that it's brilliant.

 

Go and get one, and practice. As mentioned above, it's hard to show anyone how to use it, it just takes practice. The ACME caller is more suitable for Jackdaw's, and again, once you learn how to use it, it produces some good sounds.

I agree with Steve.The Primos Power Crow call is simply the best Crow call available on the Market today,as long as you practice with it!This call when used correctly sounds like the real thing-Brilliant!

Humming in to is works well, like you would with a kazoo.

 

if the blackies arnt play when i use the power call then a very stupid random calling with the primos works. trying to sound like a crow attacking an owl or something.

Thanks for the advice, not sure if I'm getting any better but it's entertaining the family if it won't entertain the birds!
