chrispti
Went out on the foreshore in Emsworth this morning after the wigeon with MJT and Mudpatten. Unfortunately due to the lack of any wind or decent cloud cover, the hundreds of wigeon that screamed over just before sunrise,(as difficult as it was to see them), were way to high to get a shot at The odd bunch did however, come over slightly lower, which enabled us to get a few shots off. Although it was a lovely morning, it was no good for fowling We left with just the one duck in the bag, shot by yours truly

Spaniel
I can just picture my decoys in that spot looks very nice We have started to get the wigeons and some Teals dropping into the splashes at present, well done in bagging one, but being out in those settings is what it is all about, well done
mudpatten
I`ve just spoken to another fowler who tells me that, according to the latest WEBS wildfowl count, we probably had about three thousand wigeon over us, on a very broad front, in the thirty minutes that the flight lasted. The rush of air from their wings of some of the closer packs sounded like an express train as they went over whistling like banshees. A real nuisance that the sky was so clear with no wind such that we could`nt see `em `till they had passed. Hopefully we`ll have better luck next time. As you`ve probably guessed, I`m a jinx as far as the weather is concerned. If I want a gale for flighting I get a flat calm. If I need a flat calm for punting I get a gale. I can`t win. Better luck next time.
