TJ91
i have been looking for a little frontera for a while now. dont want to spend too much as it wont be used a great deal just want something reliable to get me round the farm and carry all my gear may have the odd motorway trip to go shooting further afield but not often (i arent bothered about doing over 70mph, i have motorbikes for when i am in a rush!) frontera stands out to me, not to shabby looking, not huge but enough room for my hide and decoys and a dog when i get 1 4wd obviously a plus when it gets muddy round the fields (i will put some a/t tyres on if the one i buy doesnt have them!) hows this sound... 2000 VAUXHALL FRONTERA 2.2 i 16V 3 DOOR SPORT, 4X4, FINISHED IN GREEN METALLIC, WITH MATCHING TRIM, IT HAS PAS, CD, ELECTRIC WINDOWS AND MIRRORS, DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS, REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING, ALLOY WHEELS, ROOF RAILS SUNROOF,FRIENDLY BULL BAR , 70000 MILES, HPI CLEAR, THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN KEPT IN REALLY EXCELLENT CONDITION it looks very nice in the pics, no damage showing up anywhere! how much would you say its worth about?? and what are the main problems with these vehicles? what should i look out for when i go to view any!? Thanks

Dont forget 'muddyfronteras',see you there Price is about right, but have a look on e-bay/auto trader to see what they go for You will love the frontera if its got good tyres on,since i have had mine 96 2.0 sport apache ltd ed, i have had to do the following repairs; 1.steering colum 2.sump gasket(what a job) 3.oil pressure switch(soon) It has no rust and goes anywhere i have pointed it,looks good styling and comfortable and no rattles (thats one over the green awfuls),the best bit is four clips release the whole top of the roof which makes it a purpose designed lamping truck I f you do get the fronty, join 'muddy fronteras',then get a quote for insurance off 'frank pickles',only criteria is it must be modified in some way, must be a second vechicle and you must be a member of a club, saved me 100s of pounds

silver pigeon 3
For the money Fronteras are a good bit of kit, I have a 1998 2.8td LWB and it will go anywhere, the option to choose 2wd or either of the 4wd is also a good feature. The 2.8td is a brilliant engine lifted straight out of an early Isuzu Trooper, Good luck with your decision.
vampire
The 2.8 engine is bullet proof If you join 'muddyfronteras' forum that is counted as a club, modifications include big wheels/tyres/bull bar/rock sliders/snorkel/suspension lift,ie any of the stuff you do to a 4x4
Andy75
Not exactly bullet proof - I melted 2 in a LWB Best engined Fronty I had was the 3.2V6
Beardo
love mine to bits, don't care if she gets dented or scratched as she cost less than a grand two years ago. put proper muds tyres on her earlier this year, and just stuck a new radiator in. the lamping roof is fantastic - would really miss that on a new 4x4
garyb
I've got one too! Great trucks these... I really do use and abuse mine - it even has a bullet hole in the door Gets me, my dogs and all my gear anywhere I ask of it - and is simply superb for Lamping from with it's 360 degree platform, once the hardtop roof is removed. When this one dies, I will be buying another. Cost me £290 taxed and tested about 1.5 years ago
al4x
have you taken yours round Devils Pit NB? if not you really ought to with those tyres on the only issue I'd have with a petrol one is the cost of putting fuel in it but if its limited use then it probably makes more sense than the diesels, as for the 2.8's being bulletproof they may be when they get an easy life but do any towing and they seem to suffer very badly

al4x
25ish but that can go down a lot if its mostly off road or you chuck decent tyres on it. Should be better than the two 2l versions above they're more like how many gallons to the mile usually

Zapp
I am considering one of these if my poor old fourtrak fails MOT next month and is not worth repairing. I have heard lots of good things about them, and they have one hell of a lot of space in the back. Was yours a private sale Garyb? I would be a very happy man if I can pick one up for that kind of money
garyb
Won on Ebay Zapp... Had to collect it from Leicester - the lady started crying as I drove it away! if only she could see the state of it now In that time, it's needed the head gasket doing (DIY - £250) Exhuast (£40) and a brake caliper (eBay £30) Passed it's MOT this week, with 124k on the clock - Im sure I can sell it tomorrow for more than it owes me. vampire
Fuel consumption yeah um not a lot from my 2.0ltr,about low 20s up to 30 something on a run,but stick it off road in 4wd with a couple of people laming from the back and well.........i am sure i did twenty quid in 3 hours last winter ,but what ever it was its just as Paul Daaniels says 'not alot' . Still would not have anything else for the money. Fuel consumption doesnt matter so long as she gets me where i want to go and doesnt break down all the time i will be happy.. i will just have to give up smoking to pay for the fuel..good insentive
Beardo
Kingpin Technic Amazon (retreads - same tread pattern as Insa Turbos) from http://www.tyresdirectuk.co.uk/xcart/home.php?cat=254 £50 a tyre - seem to be wearing well for retreads. I get about 20mpg with the 2.0l
Andy75
I converted mine to a softop to save some weight. Being an N reg, she had the later X20SE engine, which is a bit more powerful and a bit more frugal on the go-go juice. Also meant it had coils all round, which gave better articulation on the back axle. I do miss her, and if I could find her again I'd buy her back for the giggles.
