Dekers
Just off, lord knows why, Phoenix and Trafalgar are just the same every year! I'm not specifically after anything this time, but I'm confident I will come back with something I have managed to live without all my life but became essential today! Dekers
Funny old world, smaller and hardly worth the bother I'd say, but I got a DeerHunter Ram jacket at an exceptionally good price, and I really have been looking for one of these for a few months! Now then...when is the Phoenix?? Edited October 23, 2010 by Dekers

I must have been walking around with my eyes shut, I don't remember any of that! To be honest, I was a bit dissapointed, it did seem small, TFSA is banned but has a special opening in Bracknell on the same weekend as Phoenix and Trafalgar (he was always busy), Midway UK hardly turned up, I nearly missed them altogether, and to be fair..there was a lot of tat on some stalls. Several of the usuals missing...no Blade Tech, no free magazines and not enough stalls to put the marquee up outside the Pavillion! :....And Lunch at the L&M didn't seem up to parr either B) I'm sure I'll be at the Phoenix next year and the Trafalgar again just the same! John_R
I went this morning, met Jerry (Clayman) at his stall and got a MTM gun maintenance centre there. I had hoped to be picking up ammo for the rimmies and the .243 but apart from one box of 100 grain Privi (the last one the guy had) nobody had what I wanted. For example, almost all the HMR ammo was 17 grain hollow point or 20 grain. Nobody had normal ballastic tipped, unless it was at a higher price than I get at the usual shops. Same for 22LR HP, I had hoped for either Eley or Winchester, but there was none. Not complaining though, I do like the browse and sure that more people would be wanting target ammo. This year I went to both Trafalgar and Phoenix, both for the first time. I reckon I'll be back next time. Oh, and I was tempted by the Deerhunter Ram and also Montana jackets, but decided not to this time...

nicelydoesit
why do they sell hp when you cant use them on the ranges there lol surely the market winner would be target ammo as people come from all over to shoot these events but may not be able to purchase the ammount they need to shoot in one go

By the sounds of it, if you didn't go along, you may run out of things to whinge about :o Can't wait for the review of the Phoenix. Surely you buy all this old tat online? Out of interest, why is TFSA banned? and what constitutes a 'special opening'?
Mungler
i just looked up the results,i got 3 silver and a bronze!! and few other results too!!! im as pleased as punch,i thought i shot ****!!! Well, I guess that the difference between a silver / bronze and "a gold" is erm about the size of a hare at those distances. Sound like you need more practice to get those consistency levels up before you get out in the field. Oh the delicious irony

However, even more stuff was for reloaders.
lasbrisas
I had a browse round both days, the only purchase for me was a range bag. Almost bought a Mosin Nagant Sniper with my 2 boys egging me on but I don't like spur of the moment purchases

I see no irony, just loads of smoke! Messy business that black powder. I only shot it for fun reall, its a historic arms event. So as none of these pistols are are any good past 25m I don't think ile be practising for long range hare with them. Aren't u over that thread yet? There's a good stag row going on,why not give ure stirring stick a go on that one our kidd?

I had been looking for a Deerhunter Ram jacket for a few months, and thoroughly checked the old internet, Game Fair, Berkshire Show, Midland, etc, very much to my surprise I managed to land the best price I had seen at the Trafalgar, so, it's now in my motor! Andy at TFSA has had a few run ins with Fred, the NRA Armourer, it would not be appropriate to go into specific detail. His special opening for the Phoenix and Trafalgar are along the lines of Friday, Saturday, Sunday 09.00-21.00 hours!

Anyone with any brains will bring any and all ammo they need for a competition to the event (unless it is supplied). And anyone who knows anything about Bisley will NEVER turn up expecting to buy the ammo they want there!
Dunkield
Thanks for the clarification, I thought it might have meant he sells stuff from his kitchen as well as his lounge for that weekend only  Poor old Fred we all have stories about him... Are you going to the Antique and Classics Fair or do we need we to find a similarly potentially disappointed member from the ranks?

But he does have a very interesting bedroom and outhouse/ex garage! Part of the fun of shooting is all the characters, and Andy is a very useful guy to know! ....and Fred has his moments too!!
