Frank
Went out tonight for a couple of hours, was a quiet night, maneged 1 and was pleased with the shot, took him at 244yds. He sat below a hill and would not budge, so i made him move a bit. Did not stay out too long, came across a poor farmer that needed help, with a cow that fell into a deep drain. Have just got back coverd in all sorts, but the cow is out and well and the farmer is happy that we helped and invited me to shoot some of his foxes, magic i thought , going their friday night. Pic below of fox shot tonight with my best mate, a CZ .223 using Federal 40 grain BT factory ammo. It was one big fox and heavy at 22 and a 1/2 pound :( , the bigest i have shot this year. johnskevena
Nice shooting lad Good on you for giving the farmer a hand worked out to your advantage. Got a bit of permission myself like that over the christmass. Was shining on ground that we were not left shoot on just to see what was about and saw 2 sheep on there backs so i decided to go in and put them on there feet as it was a bitter cold night and they would be easy pickings for a dog or a fox. Was just about to put the second sheep on its feet when i noticed the farmer running towards me with a lamp in one hand and a shotgun in the other. At first his words were very colourfull but i explained what i was doing and he thanked me and appoligised for the angry words and explained that he had lost a few sheep the past year to people shooting foxes at night thus his initial anger towards me. Ended up getting permission on all his land to shoot the foxes and also got a bit of ground to ferret as he was having a problem with rabbits. As the old saying goes "one good turn ...." This is so true John. Where would we be without the good old farmer? We need him a lot, i feel satisfied in my self tonight for helping him, even though my lamping night was cut short. Catamong
Frank, A dumb question perhaps, but you don't appear to use a silencer on your rifle. The guy's I shoot with all use silenced rifles, and the report is still pretty loud. Surely the boom that it makes without one would send every fox within five miles running all the way back to Dublin..?? Cat.

I got to the conclusion that the CZ 527 is too lightly built to hold one, it would make my rifle top heavy i would think. As to sending every fox to Dublin, i dont seem to have a problem with the boom, the foxes seem to like it too :( , as the few results iv had shown. I was thinking about the T4, a lighter version of the T8, but a mate has a T8 on his Swift and that seems to rust fairly quickly , even though he oils it with WD 40. In my opinion, they make the rifle look massive at the end. Edited February 1, 2006 by Frank
