PestController
Hi guys, Before we relocated back into England from Scotland, I used a chap who sold game birds, rabbits, hares etc. to the public, it was easy to dispose of your bag, as long as it was reasonably intact! It also paid for a few carties as well. Since moving back there's seems to be a distinct lack of game sellers in my neck of the woods for game disposal. What do others do?....apart from eat it..... Game birds and ducks in the freezer, no probs.....but don't like pigeon or rabbit. Twenty years ago I knew a guy who give you 10p a pigeon, he then shipped them to France, where apparently they like them. Just curious. :(
henry d
I like rabbit and pigeon, but don`t like wigeon and tufted therefore I don`t shoot them. Why not try the many and varied recipes in that section? You could try giving them to anyone who likes them or I believe you can sell to local restaurants if they`re in feather/fur.

Cranfield
A search through Yellow Pages under Game Dealers might help you. When I have a lot of wood pigeons, I often just cut out the breast meat. This takes up less room in the freezer and is more readily acceptable to friends, than birds with feathers on. PestController
Hi Cranfield, Yea...did that, your right I think, I'll keep the odd dozen or so for just breast meat, but I'm in for a 30 mile drive for the nearest game dealer if I'm lucky enough to shoot a boatload, and of course....if I couldn't make good use of them, I wouldn't shoot them, and I do know most dealers prefer them delivered unfrozen and as fresh as possible. Should have thought about game dealer locations when we moved, and a house choice based on that criteria would have been popular with the missus, wouldn't it....not!! Amazed at the lack of dealers around here.
Highlander
Trouble is most people would rather eat junk than wild. No market no dealers. We live in a fast changing world and what worked last year doesn't this Unfortunately we pigeon bashers can only eat so much. There's a guy buys frozen (or used to) and will collect if you've over 500 birds. Better than nothing maybe!

Whitebridges
Pigeon reach the heady height of 15p a bird round here at the moment. I'm sorry to say lot of the reason for this IMHO is the state in which the birds reach the dealers. I've seen blokes turn up at a dealers with a fair bag of birds heaped in a sack, say two days old and expect a good price. I have an outlet that pays good money for my birds. As soon as I get home I lay them out on their backs wings foulded in on a concrete floor. In the morning I pack them in fish boxes with none on top of each other. I tell him how they were shot, and when they were shot. My understanding is top restaurants do not serve frozen pigeon, its a fair bit of trouble but worth it. BTW a pigeon starter is a good thirty quid in posh places.
PestController
Nothing changes there then.....they pay 15p a bird, and sell it on a plate for 30 quid.!! That's it then...I'll put them on the train to you, and we'll split the bounty.. Mind you, knowing British Rail, they'd probably be minging before they got there. Whitebridges
I know boardering on the obscene isn't it. Try your local restaurants, the chef is the boy to speak with. Try pouring a few down his neck one lunchtime. I'm pretty sure some of mine go down to the "smoke" although some are eaten here at "chelsea on sea" i.e. North Norfolk.
