mr_jack
Thank you mate... it made this woody fall over at 35 yards without a flutter, he went down and stayed down, the air arms field are extremely accurate in my rifle, it makes a change from my springer when i get out with this rifle, 0% recoil is a nice change from time to time, but i still love my springer henry d ..........pigeon butty mate

stupidsalmon
I was gonna say myself, 35yrds is quite a distance for a ratcatcher let alone any CO2 rifle. If what your saying is true then i should think 35yrds is the absolute maximum range to shoot quarry with that gun. Anyways very nice shooting jack, never had pigeon in a sandwich before tho what do you put with it?? Cheers SS Edited March 22, 2006 by stupidsalmon

Hunter
I wouldnt even take a woody at 35 yards with my Raider at 12ftlbs, let alone 8ftlbs thats like being hit by a plastic BB pellet at that range. I use a tuned and customised Rabbitstopper and theres no way you will hit a tiny pigieon head at 35 yards whit it when out in the field.. thats with a longer barrel, better reputation, and more power.. Still, if im worng I would be happy to be proven wrong.. (when I see it done ) Edited March 22, 2006 by Hunter

(when I see it done ) Hello hunter, oviousley im a better shot than you mate, dont pigeon hole everyone else just because your shooting is not upto standard, i am very confident with my rifle/rifles, i have dropped a woody at 35 yards with my stingray, this is a springer mate, and you state yourself that you wouldnt take a woody at 35 yards with your raider your recoiless raider? maybe you would prefer to polish it rather than use it lol you should trade it in for a water pistol and one other thing there mate, where in this whole post/topic did i mention pigeon head? what post have you be reading? so before passing your comment why dont you read the post propely? no wonder you wouldnt chance taking a woody at 35 yards, you would dive right in without looking at the situation, get it wrong like youve proofed here and miss no offence by the way bud

Dougie_fn12
now this is making a rather good and funny read.... ok first of all the ratcatcher is around the 8ftlb mark where as the king ratcatcher is around the 10ftlb mark... ive owned all these rifles and alot of pcp and springers including venom springers.... now if your rifle is accurate at 35 yards @ 10ftlb then why bother the chap about taking out a wood pigeon ? when alot of top quality pcp pneumatics shoot at around the 11ftlb mark the 1 ftlb isnt going to make much of a differance... i have personally shot alot of woodies and magpies when i had my king ratcatcher during the warmer weather when the gun works at its optimum once zeroed... co2 rifles are not all in accurate as you all say..... as this is further to be explained about the temperature they are being used in..... now for you PLINKER about the lad shooting mice with a 97k.... who gives you the right to put anyone down who has the ability of taking out a mouse with a head shot @ around 20 yards with a springer ? i think that you have alot of wising up to do and unles you can prove to me that you can shoot a mouse with a .177 springer in the head with a standing shot at this range then i suggest you put your dummy back in your mouth and keep stum...... a mouse has the ability to jump/move out of the pellets path as soon as it heres a noise as the body structure is of such a light and flexible one the smallest of noises can make a tiny mouse jump as to miss the pellet path....so for you to be puting him down i do consider you to be a bit of a lifeless ****.... you should be proud of people who have this ability to cleanly despatch of there quarry with such superb accuracy...and to top it off with a standing shot........ thank you and good day

milo_05
"where in this whole post/topic did i mention pigeon head" So you shot it in the body? Well thats not a good shot anyway as it may have fallen but not died outright especially with a 9ftlb ratcatcher. You can kill with a relatively low amount of power but it has to be a headshot. I haven't actually used a king but with a barrel that short it wouldn't be the most accurate. And these coments that he should trade it in for a water pistol. Get chairgun stick in 9.5 ftlbs with .22 and your pellet and look at the drop at 35 yards. Now that is a tough shot at a pigeons HEAD when it's bobbing and small. which is what people assume you were aiming for because with air rifles it should be a head shot. I'm not saying you didn't do it, but you went for the body.
mr_jack
Na not the body either , where did i say body? eeeerr no where the woody was shot in the lower neck area, the part that doesnt move, he went down at 35 yards end of story :get over it... milo_05
" :get over it" I don't have a problem with it, but with a ratty that's extreme range. Good shot.
mr_jack
35 yards an extreme range, maybe for you son, me, i can spit further its not the rifle that restricts the shooter its the shooter that restricts the rifle... skill-practice-practice-skill-and some more practice, dont be scared
Cranfield
mr jack, I commend you for your humility and good advice. No doubt all those that want to spit 35 yards, will take due note. As this thread probably served its useful life some time ago, we will now close it.
