P~MX
I have an absolutely Mint Benelli Monte that I want to shoot in the fields but I don't want to get it scratched and scraped, I'm very fussy about my gums even when I buy one for rough shooting I don;t want it destroyed, I had a Beretta 687 sporter for over 25 years, I bought it new to shoot clays and slowly I started to shoot ducks, pheasants, woodcock etc with it and after a season or 2 had gone by I noticed my gun was no longer as new like it was when I first brought it into the fields so I don;t want this to happen to my Monte, I've got it well wrapped with quality camo cloth wrapping, it protects it 100% but it does take away from the true feel of the gun, Does anyone know of a product that can be heat scrunk or even dipped ? f3
poontang
Something like this maybe? http://www.camodipkit.com/
retromlc
i bought some sticky camo tape off fleebay for a fiver,i just cut it to shape and stuck it on where i wanted it,not overly pretty but was effective and i just peeled it off when I wanted to sell it,i would think if you put a permenant coating on it it would make it differcult to sell when you/if you try

poontang
cheers Poontang this is exactly the sort of stuff I'm after can it be bought in UK ? f3 Not 100% sure, but I got the link from a site where someone who'd used it was in the UK. Unfortunately it didn't say whether it was bought here or was imported.
BlaserF3
PM sent Before your gun is dipped ALL the original finish has to be removed
Beardo
i think you have to be realistic about field guns - they're never going to look spotless for long
al4x
i think you have to be realistic about field guns - they're never going to look spotless for long exactly, the dipping is effectively painting it so its not going to look mint ever again, the shrink tape you get can also become wet and hold moisture and unless you take it off each time causes issues with corrosion etc. Personally if you're that worried buy a hatsan as they are an almost disposable shotgun for field use and you can get them cammo from the factory
BlaserF3
I would have recommended a nice Baikal instead, at least it would fire every time.
jollysp2
I've got a Hatsan an never had any trouble with it ever ( probably just give it the kiss of death now )
bigchap
'I'm very fussy about my gums even when I buy one for rough shooting' what exactly are we talking about here?
John_R
If it is absolutely mint it seems crazy to want to permanently camo it! I'd put up with the odd ding, or put up with the camo gun sock, but not do that dipping thing.
P~MX
To be honest all my guns are like new - all in mint condition or I wouldn't have them, over the years I've had rough gun for rough shootin but as money allowed it I upgraded to new guns that I wanted to have, all my other guns are too good to take into the fields and tramp through hedges and winns, this Benelli Monte is a really nice gun even though it's the cheapest gun I have, I like shootin it as much as I do my other guns and some of them are worth a few grand each or more, I just want to keep it tidy after a days huntin, I've camo wrapped it now but it takes away from the fell of the gun, the camo dipping looks the part, it would also be a lot cheaper to have it dipped than change to another gun, to be honest it's not the camo finish I really want ~ I've a Browning Gold Sporting Clays (green/blue) which has a rubberized type of finish (the name of the finish has went right out of my head just now), this finish is superb for grip and it's virtually scratch proof but I don;t think Browning would coat my Benelli with it the dip kit that poontang suggested is superb stuff but it's only available from US. I'll give it a try if I can get hold of some, If I do this I'll not be selling the gun as it's the gun for me in the fields. f3

It does offer superb protection and grip in harsh weather conditions.
P~MX
That's the stuff Poon is there anywhere I could have my Benelli wood coated with Dura Touch ? i'd prefer it over having it camo'd . f3
BlaserF3
Why not just use your Dura Touch Browning? :hmm: If you do a really good camo job and you put it down, you might lose it and does it really make any difference? P~MX
I do use the Browning Gold sporting clays semi with the dura touch coating when I'm pigeon or duck shootin but it's about a pound & a half heavier than my Benelli Monte, that's why I'd like to use the Monte for huntin woodcock and pheasants . f3
