jollysp2
What do you think of this idea it seems to work very well with chickens but would it work with pigeon? My butcher has said he would take pigeon of me but it would need to be dressed? [media] [media]

Beardo
unless you have a food hygiene license you cannot supply your butcher with plucked birds - they must be in the feather!
decoy1979
Hand plucking a pigeon takes no more that 2 mins, feathers just fall out..
Billy.
For all the effort of making this, you could crown a million pigeons. I did 55 pigeon in about an 1 1/4 hours. Not that difficult

hagman187
I built a dry plucker a few years ago using a small honda engine, a shaft belt and pulleys from an old mower and strips of tread off an old bike tyre. It went like hellfire and worked a treat on chicken, pheasant, partidge and pigeon. As i was a butcher i could make good money doing this, but as was said above you do need a food hygeine certificate, and your local council may need to inspect your premises aswell. It's hardly worth the hassle unless you're already set up and good to go for such an operation. Atb, Dan.
