BobbyGee
I've got a 390,a great gun- I use it for everything. I am not familiar with the 3901 but having owned a 303 in the past I would agree that any Beretta semi auto is a good gun.

DSPUK
It's a Wal-Mart gun - more basic version of 390. Dave
Dekers
I don't know it, but it's a Beretta, and if others are correct that it is a Basic 390 then it should be OK, but in those circumstances I would suggest £450 is all it's money! Dave yes Dave your on the right tracks,I think I read somewhere it was built with a bin load of part from the 390 and 391 and assembled on the cheap and sold mainly in the big name stores like wally and Sears. Also I think they were aimed at the home defence market with the shorter barrel length john
DSPUK
Got this from search of Shotgun world 390 Wal Mart: This model is much like the original 390. It has an angled receiver only. Average weight is around 7.5 lbs for a 12 gauge. They also only come in a B/S finish with a 26” barrel for the 20 and 28” for the 12. The 20 is no longer offered. They don’t have a recoil pad but, rather a plastic butt plate. They do not have the bolt lock lever on the left side of the receiver. Read more: http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=109649#ixzz18YGehF1t The main difference is 3901 doesn't have a mag cutout lever on left side - other than that basicaly same gun. officerdibble777
the Americans have a great way to re-market things adding names like "statesman" makes it sound new. They done this with the Benelli M2 also..When the comfortec stock they called the plain M2 "the American" john
