Dorsey
Hey guys, I kinda fit into this thread as the only shooting I do is back home in Kent, Romney Marsh - haven't got any shooting where I live now so still get back when I can to go out and get cold and frustrated Hope the shooting has been good for you all so far this year? southeastpete
nope. But thats ok, means it can only get better!
Dorsey
Ha - Yeah fingers crossed on that one. I saw plenty of birds last time I was out (around Christmas) but I couldn't hit anything. I blamed the cartridges, the snow, my cold feet... pretty much everything except myself
southeastpete
yea. I think some of the ones i was after have bought body armour. What kind of area do you have permission on? Next time your headed down if you fancy a partner your way, or a change of scenery, give me a wk or two's notice and we'll sort something out. Dorsey
I've got a few friendly farmers around a place called dymchurch... It's all flat arable land and far too much rape normally but have had a few good days over the years. Shame all the roost woods are up on the north downs so it's kinda pot luck as to whether the birds fly my way or go the other side of the hill towards ashford. How about you, Where are you based? jonnyoftheboy
hi gents do any of you guys keep your eye in shooting clays? I only shoot clays, and also live in Romney Marsh Dorsey. anyone fancy a meet up sometime? Jon
Dorsey
I'm still finding my way around the site tbh but had a quick look at the clay section earlier. I've only shot at a handful of clays before but feel I should probably give it a go properly sometime! Are there any good grounds vaguely local to you Jon? southeastpete
im from up near dover. Deal if you know it. Ive got a couple of fzrms i shoot, with some streams, and wooded areas, so good variety. I do shoot clays sometimes, but pigeons are free, better sport, and you can eat them! fergie
I would love to tag along with someone I wouldn't soot just learn how to set the decoys out and set the hide up etc. I might be able to return the favor on one of my farms
Dorsey
I guess the only advantage of clays is that you can rely on them being in the same field as you It seems like there's a fair few Kentish guns on here then
Dorsey
Fergie I'm sure something can be arranged. You can read all the words of advice on the internet but there's nothing like seeing it all put into action where abouts are you based? fergie
Maidstone I do have permission But not sure on the number of pigeons, i'm guessing it should be ok as hes a crop and seed grower I would like to go with some one before i go it alone
southeastpete
well, i'd offer fergie, but i'min a similar boat! Once i've got the hang of it maybe lol
Cranfield
I am also from Romney Marsh, the best initial meet up is a social morning on clays, that way you get to know each other better. The most convenient to the Marsh, are Willow Farm between Appledore and Tenterden, or Martin Gorse Wood just outside of Dover.
simshaz
Hello i am in the maidstone area, been shooting for a while and got all the kit, only just started in Kent as building the house etc took all my time. Most of my Pigeon shooting was Warrington and cheshire when i was in Liverpool. Happy to show you the ropes if needed. Send me a PM Simon

southeastpete
i got solley too, and ledgers. We should def try and organise our efforts. Maybe you have the other solley if you dont have the streams. Claya wise, martin gorse is very good shoot, half way between dover and deal on the country lanes. Apparently there is also one at whitfield, behind the ramada hotel somewhere. And then greenfields at sturry/canterbury.
Dorsey
Well it certainly sounds like a clay morning is on the cards... Just promise not to laugh if I miss everything
