Anser2 I apologise for miss reading your post - Sorry ! I'm not using your money any more than I am using my own, I've asked the same questions to SASC and I've said to them they need to do more to make people more aware of the situation. I've spoke to my MP but like any other MP all you get is "I will look into it" ! I will not be rejoining the BASC not as long as some of their policies are in place whether they would have me or not and as long as I feel I am able to help shooting in any way I can I will try my very best. Night Night.

You ask why arnt you inline with the rest of the UK in classing woodcock as wildfowl\waders. Answer simple , you live in a country with s divolved govenment Part of the benifit or disadvantage of such a govenment is that you make your own laws in these matters. Not BASC , CA or SAC , but your own countrymen so its up to you to change the law if you feel so strong about it. That means lobbying your MP.

This problem has been the case from as long back as 1982 many years before a dissolved government has been in place, I do feel very strong about the protection and in the keeping of our Sporting birds and animals cause if we don't protect our sport we could loose it. I have as I said spoke to my MP and Ian Clarke head of SASC about this, this is about the protection of birds so that this never happens again due to bad weather, I have been told in all likeliness there will be no more shooting this season as the ban isn't due to be reviewed to 4th Jan2011 and that the long term military forecasts are saying that although there will be a slight lull in the weather temperature over the holiday period and that the severe frosts are set to return at the end of the year so these birds need protecting the same as the other birds and ASAP .

To be honest i don't see why you are still criticising against the BASC and fellow members of this forum. This issue is a problem and it has already been adressed which is why in 2011 woodcock and snipe will be placed on the protected species list along with wildfowl and waders, and as with all new government legislation it takes a long period of time. What do you want the BASC to do about it?(it's rhetorical don't answer it) I think that they have addressed the issue very well and made people aware of the situation and its up to us to take action into our own hands and refrain from shooting these birds, you will get your way its just a matter of time, wait it out.

I have not criticised any member of this forum who hasn't criticised me in in the wrong ! We are all shooters and we should stick together for the sake of our Sport. I addressed the original question to the BASC as they claim to be the main voice of shooting, I have asked the same of SASC as I've said, there is no one representing SASC on this forum therefore my question was addressed to BASC here ? The problem may well have been discussed but it not confirmed as this will definitely be changed in March 2011, this could have been avoided if our shooting representatives had concentrated on the future after the last shooting ban last year, and that's what needs to be done now by all shootings governing bodies. I would have like to have seen our associations have the ban shown (more) on TV and made the news more publicly accessibly.

This thread was never set out to offend anyone so if it has I apologize.I've said what I wanted to say and I will not debate this matter anymore.

Thank goodness for that! You were really beginning to annoy me.

:stupid:

+1. This whole thread is a transparent excuse for cheap shots at BASC. Yet after starting and stoking this diatribe the OP has the cheek to say shooting people should stick together! Unbelievable

Nail on the head!!

BASC encourageing shooters use constraint should be enough. Legislation etc. will be ignored by any shooter who doesn't agree with constraint anyway.

Full marks to David BASC for yet another profesional response :good:

Very well said. Its good to see the deficiencies of SACS being highlighted without any effort from me.

  • 2 weeks later...

I read this thread and roared with absolute laughter, and when I got to this bit my chin hit the floor:

I have rang my association and spoke about the current situation, I have heard some things that have been proposed by a certain organization that I do not agree with, and I will therefore not be making any phone calls to any association other than my own - SACS

Well funny and by that I mean seriously funny in a completely mental and barmy way

The OP isn't a member of BASC but starts a thread berating them for purported inactivity on a particular and very narrow shooting related issue and all the while the OP's own shooting organisation has done sweet FA and certainly a lot less than BASC in any event.

Axegrindingtastic :good:

I do love a bit of transparant nonsensical BASC knocking - it makes BASC and their representatives that bother to answer questions on forums like this all the more credible and worthy of support.

Obviously BASC will be getting my and my syndicate's subs again this year...
