Drain rods for drey poking...

henry, calm down, I have never said I just shoot dreys.

The dreys are invariably on land I already know intimately or I am with keepers or owners or tenants who do know the land intimately, and we know the active ones.

.....and around my way there are NO Pine Martins or Reds Squirrel and very few Buzzards. As for the Owls, I would also like to think that between myself and others involved we know where the local owls hang out!

:good:

Would you like some of our buzzards mate if you're a bit short? Please? For free?!

.......... and I have never seen a Buzzard or Owl in ANY drey I have shot.

ATB!

Sorry but you need to be a bit more specific as it seems like you did. Dreys need to be poked out and the evicted squirrels shot as they escape, yes they then need to be pulled down, just to say you shoot dreys gives the wrong impression.

Correct me if I am wrong... But, when out after squirrels we have always not only poked the nests & shot all the inhabitants, but then raked them out of the trees completely!

You then know that all target species were killed (hopefully cleanly) no non target species were harmed, & no nest remains, making the job a lot easier next time round. As new nest are easily identified

No end of BB,s fired into a drey will not bring the whole thing down!

I'm with HD on this, if a jobs worth doing...do it properly.
