spurgate
Hi guys, I have a question/questions about time and moving I am new to this sport so have little experience. I have already research the area and flight lines Question 1 you have birds flying over your decoys however these are fast and high and do not land how long before you change your pattern? Or do you give up and move elsewhere. Question 2 you can see in the distance that birds are landing but no where near you how long before you should move? Or do you stay put and hope they come over too you. thanks in advance
Shooting Tom
Question 1 - SHOOT THEMMMM lol, jokin change your decoy lay out get some movement, make sure they(most) are facing into the wind or just maybe they dont feed where you hve your decoys Question 2 - watch the birds and find where they are feeding in the first place then set up there, if they move on then you can try to move but more offen than not they will then land where you have moved from try putting gas guns or bags on sticks to move them on. or get another gun on the other field. what are you deocying over? hope this gives you some ideas. kyska
This the question that rages in the hide with me and my shooting buddy, we have now decided to stay put. We drive about to see where the groups are, set up the hide, drive about and rope banger the other fields, then go back and put the decoys out. We used to move after an hour, but waiting has paid off sometimes, tough times at the minute getting birds in.
motty
This really depends. Nine times out of ten i set up in the right place first time. But sometimes things don't go to plan. I had a situation on a rape field in march last year where birds weren't decoying very well. I had a mate with me and we kept watching as pigeons piled over on the far side of the field. It wasn't like we weren't getting any shooting, but after around 2 1/2 hours we had only shot around 20. We made the decision to move, taking a few shell decoys and a magnet. Three hours later we had finished with 106. Without moving, i don't think we would have made 50! Moving can be a pain, but sometimes worth the effort. Cranfield
The answer is that you need to be where the birds are. If they are not where you are, then you have got to move..............simples.

Shooting Tom
well the birds should be feeding on it then lol, you can move to the birds but i found that didnt work for me as i have a big block of rape to shoot over and only one gun they just move away from you very annoying, all last year i was chasing them hope this year will be better lol i have a new plan with my lofting kit which is on the way lol, get some high and movement into my patten hope that helps pull the pigeons in lol. Exactly my problem too Tom, I shoot over a block of hundreds of acres of rape, saying that I had a result at the weekend with the magnet and rope bangers in other fields!
