geoffrey howes Posted January 29, 2011 Report Share Posted January 29, 2011 I borrowed one of those arrow laser shots from a friend as my scores have been below par lately. I measured out about 16 yards and attached a piece of paper on my gate with a large black dot in the center. I mounted the gun and fired the laser and was 3" low and about 4" to the left. I remounted half a dozen times with the same result. Now I don't know what to do and I wish I had left well alone. Has anyone used one and how should you interpret the result. Now I am thinking I need to raise the comb and increase the cast. Are the any instructors on here who could give me some advice. I have a 682 gold e. I am Left eye dominant and shoot left handed (try it) your mis alignment is either mount or dominance if you try again with left eye closed are you closer or further away? Also need to make sure the laser is aligned well in the gun (not sure how) I dont know of anyone to suggest for a lesson but go for a respected coach who can ***** mount and gun fit. Thanks for the advice regarding the lesson. It would be far easier in the long run to learn to shoot from the left shoulder. I'm left eye dominant but right handed and gave up trying to use my right shoulder years ago. Shooting from the left is now natural and only took a few months to master. Agree with a lesson though, might also be worth while trying the left shoulder with an instructor as well. Good luck though whichever way you choose. BerettaSV10 Posted January 29, 2011 Report Share Posted January 29, 2011 I had a problem that I was shooting left of the mark with my 525, which showed up on the patteren plate. I then tried it again with the SV10, with the SV10 the shot was on the cross. With me it was the the gun causing the problem and I had the cast altered which made the gun feel and handle a lot better. It could be worth trying a different gun to see if there is any differance, with me it was downn to the cast on Browning's and Miroku's being to streight. southrop Posted January 29, 2011 Report Share Posted January 29, 2011 I have a lasershot and have found that the best way to check fit is to close both eyes , mount the gun naturally then open your eyes and see where the red dot is in relation to your front bead. Ideally it should be blotted out by the bead. Make sure you put the laser shot in the top barrel. At 16 yards the bottom barrel will appear to shoot low but the red dot should be blocked out by the bead at 35 yards or so assuming both your barrels are regulated to shoot in the same place. Then shoot at some easy dolly clays and see if you smoke them. I would double check all this before you start messing with cast and height on the assumption you were hitting clays before you tried the lasershot? Hope that helps? I think my first port of call will be a lesson on a pattern plate to see where i am shooting before a touch the comb/cast.
