dead-eye-dick
I see a few of you have CZ's with 16" barrels, I assume factory choped inc. screw cut. Are they any louder, if so how much than std length...(with sound mod and sub's) Thanks DED
Dunkield
They are made with 16" barrels not cut back, and they are no louder than the 20" barrels with mod + subs.
Axe
In my opinion a 21 inch barrel with mod is quieter than the same running a shorter barrel, for example 16 inch. The science well who knows, but I figure its because more of the powder is used in the longer barrel.
Sargeant Bang
The powder is all used after the first 13" hence the fact that the .22 carbine works fine and sounds and operates as well as a 20" model.
Devilishdave
Sound basicly decays so the longer it is in the barrel the more the sound will be reduced before it is released. For example in a motorcycle engine the noise level is 170db but at the end of the exhaust it is around 96db (legal) note that is with baffels and so on. So laws of pysics would suggest that with exaxtly the same moderator the shorter barrel will be slightly louder. My 16 inch .17hmr with SAK is fairly quiet. I would say if you fancy the shorter gun for balance or just the asthetics then go for it. Dave

Dave Dave if you get the chance try the ASE ulta on your HMR i had the SAK on mine but the ultra is quieter.
