01smartc
Hi all, Im quite new to the shooting scene and I'm after a new shotgun, mainly for game shooting.. with a bit of clay every now and then. Ive been looking at used a guns but i'm having trouble finding a left-handed one. I thinking of getting a brand new one and the Browning 525 has caught my eye. What other options are there £1000-£1500 brand new for left handed people? Cheers Chris
BerettaSV10
There are options in your price range, for between £1200 to £1500 you can pick up a new Beretta's including silver pigions and Brownings. My local gun shop has L/H Berreta silver pigeon 1's in stock for around £1210 and also a L/H Browning 525 in. Not sure what the second hand market is like, but worth having a look on guntrader or keeping a eye on the for sale section of the forum. seeker
If your in the Lincs area then try Derek Lee at Tumby .. he's a l/hander and usually seems to have several in ... also good to deal with.
HDAV
Lloyd at Lampeter and the gun shop rugby tend to have a choice of left handers, I got mine from rugby where I took a 525 and 686 to there clay ground to try. Worth making the effort if you can but phone first
gsm1968
There are very few true left handed guns around. They all have a left cast, but a right cocking lever. If your buying one there are none available, and if your selling one no one wants one. My mate shoots left handed and shoots well with a adjustable comb Browning set up for him. HDAV
Blazer F3 do a true lefty but the top lever is no issue you quickly get used to it Edited February 12, 2011 by HDAV
Shropshire_Lad
Very true, they do. As a lefty you get used to the top lever, a true left hand one would take a while to get used to Lol! As regards to shooting a gun with an adjustable comb my wife has one. It will go up/down and left and right so being left handed I can use it too! Not perfect but good enough. atvb Paul. Dibs
I shoot left handed. A few options. Buy a true left hander. Buy a right hander and have it cast over. I dont like steaming / oiling of stocks to bend them personally but some good smiths will re head the wood to give it true left hand cast. This is what I have done in the past with my local dealer. I am lucky that neutral is my perfect fit so not much moving. Buy a semi - cheaper and you can shim them over yourself as most come with kits to do this by taking the stock off and adding a spacer although no good on a pheasant shoot but excellent for clays. Finally look at some of the more neutral guns. Brownings and Miroku seem to have very little cast so not much adjustment needed. Dont worry about the top lever as it becomes second nature as it is. Best option have a gun fit, will be the best money you spend. If you dont need alot of cast (if any) then the Brownings and the Miroku MK38 (my recommendation if it fits) are great guns. A brand new Miroku MK38 teague sporter will be within your budget or you can pick them up secondhand for good money - Avalon guns have one for £695 at the moment. This gun will do pheasants and clays no problem. Although a heavier gun than a traditional game gun its still a good option and I personally prefer the heavier gun. poorpeet
Not sure where you are but I was in countryways down in Kent a while ago and they had a brand new LH 525 for around £1200. I'm Left handed and agree that the Browning/Miroku option is prob the best option. My 7000 is a beautiful gun to shoot.

Chris What model? there are lots of 525 Variants and £1500 would be steep for a grade 1 or "nordic" "autumn" but a good price for a Grade 3 sporter. I bought a 2 year old L/H 525 sporter for under £1000 (just) £1300 is about the price for a new LH 525.... http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/100219132252000 you can pick up a beretta for even less... I was looking to trade in my MK60 20 bore as I could not quite get on with it, and came across the SP1 @ £1180 pre vat increase and with the extras thrown in like the 10 year warrenty, 12 months insurance. Although mines a R/H 30" m/c version.
akafiley
I shoot a factory cast (r/h) 525 and have no problem whatsoever with gun fit . Its a great ambidextrous gun and i got it in perfect condition, fully boxed with a full set of chokes for just £800 . I shot someone elses l/h 525 on some clays and it felt just the same, however i think it may have gave me a psychological boost knowing it was lefty, if you find a lefty for a good price its definitely worth it, but i.m.o. its not worth spending an extra £300 just for a left handed cast. Chris You can get a brand new L/H 525 from £1250 depending on the spec, try Sportsman Guncentre (Dorset/Exeter/Newport) Lampeter shooting supplies, The Gun Shop Rugby, would expect them all to do better than £1500 if you need finance get 0% credit card..... http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/100112133257004 http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/100219132252000 http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/101018204025004 It's also perfectly acceptable to haggle, you'll need a slip, some ear protection, glasses as a minimum and probably want to add a a vest perhaps a cap and some carts.... plenty of wiggle room For £1500 you should be able to walk away with a brandnew gun, 1000 carts, slip, bag, vest, glasses, ear muffs and cap.........With a huge smile on your face and big dent in your wallet! MartB
I use a Benelli semi auti (Montefeltro). It is completely lefthanded, down to left side cartridge ejection and you can further alter the stock with shims. Improved my shooting by about 30%. watch out barn doors
wacker
Miroku or Browning have hardly any cast on them, I'm left handed and shoot them fine. There is a tiny bit of cast on the toe, as long as your not a big guy this shouldn't cause any problem.

Thats what they say, but if you put 30" LH 525 next to a 30" RH 525 the total difference between the 2 as opposed to a straight line is quite a lot!
